  1. I did too but he's obviously not. You've not been in touch with me in any of the usual ways. you can email me to : andy.kershaw.01@bbc.co.uk if it's important or otherwise.
  2. The Yorkshire Ambulance Service is the 2nd worst performing ambulance service in the country when it comes to responding to emergency (Cat Red 1 & 2) calls these are the life threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrest or where a patient has stopped breathing. Their target is to respond to 75% of all calls within 8 minutes. Across Yorkshire, that has dropped to 69.8% and in Barnsley, Doncaster, Sheffield and Rotherham it has dropped as low as 64%. I'm looking for people who've had experience of delay in waiting for an ambulance in respose to an emergency 999 call-out. We are compiling figures to assess how this affects patients, but I'd be grateful to hear your expereinces if you have any of delays and whether you'd be willing to chat to me for Radio Sheffield Please contact me below by phone or email. Many thanks, Andy Andy Kershaw Broadcast Journalist BBC Radio Sheffield 54, Shoreham Street, Sheffield S1 4RS Tel: 0114 267 5464 07711 913313 E: andy.kershaw.01@bbc.co.uk http://www.bbc.co.uk/sheffield

  5. BBC Radio Sheffield is interested in your experience of the NHS given the massive savings they have to make over the next few years. There've been concerns raised about bed shortages and the diginity of care in hospital for elderly patients. Have you or your relatives had treatment in an NHS hospital which has made you think this isn't good enough? It's being suggested that the £20 billion pounds worth of NHS efficiency saving are having an adverse impact of patient care in some of our regions' hospitals. The number of patients mentioning NHS spending levels in NHS feedback has increased over threefold in the past year, according to figures released today by independent feedback website Patient Opinion. Issues like a decline in levels of care with bed shortages and lack of caring staff attributed to NHS spending cuts. Similarly professionals at hospitals are also concerned about the effect that cuts are having on the delivery of service. A healthcare worker at Rotherham hospital, posting anonymously under the username Stressedhealthcarer in July 2011, said: “As a healthcare worker at Rotherham hospital, I am increasingly concerned about the standards of quality care. Due to bed closures patients are being constantly moved throughout their stay which I feel results in disjointed medical and nursing care. If you have any experiences you can share post them here or get in touch with us asp contact details below: Thanks Andy Andy Kershaw | Broadcast Journalist BBC SHEFFIELD 54 Shoreham Street, Sheffield, S1 4RS Phone 01142675482 Mobile 07910 589662 /07711 913313 Email andy.kershaw.01@bbc.co.uk 88.6 FM | 104.1 FM | DAB | bbc.co.uk/sheffield
  6. Born and brought up in Woodseats and (apart from 12 years in South Wales ) lived here all my life. My favourite park is Graves Park. Now live at Meersbrook a mile from where I grew up. Lovely area, lovely people...Best Chippy in Sheffield on Abbey Lane. Used to be Fergies but not same owners these days..I remember Bullocks, Rounds, and the nice lady who used to serve us sarsaparilla in the shop which is now the cash converters..
  7. We have set up a new email address for everyone to send messages of support and reasons why BBC Radio Sheffield should not face cuts. Please send all comments to; stopradiosheffieldcuts@gmail.com Members of the NUJ from Radio Sheffield will be giving out leaflets at Sunday's Steel City Derby game at Bramall Lane this Sunday from 10.30. Come and say hello and lend your support to your local football station ! Thanks and best wishes Andy
  8. We had this in S8 Meersbrook this week. My wife heard the side door to the house being tried and went out to see a man walking out down the side to a white van full of washing machines and scrap. She shouted and he said they were looking for any scrap. She told him that he should have knocked the door first. They looked dodgy - she had the good sense to note the registration of the vehicle......but I suspect the cops won't be interested!
  9. Nick Dodd the Chief Executive of Sheffield Museums Trust is on BBC Radio Sheffield's Breakfast show with Toby Foster tomorrow at 0745 am. He'll be talking about the savings he needs to make to balance the SMT budget and Bishops House. The trust needs to find a 5% saving overall and that does amount to £172,000 mentioned in the original post by Deva - well done for raising it ..(among people who care anyhow!)
  10. No be sensible. It's only open to the public at weekends Sat & Sun and 70 visitors in a day ! This is the debate it's only open to the public at weekends and we're losing that! Schools are going to have to pay Mon-Fri thats the argument .
  11. This is cobblers go4it I was there today and there'd been 42 visitors by lunchtime on a Sunday with several families there when I went up. They also had 70 visitors last week. They have far more and coach trips during the Summer. This is all about cuts in Sheffield Museums Trust. Its the last remaining timber framed house in Sheffield and no question that it should be preserved and maintained for public access, with committed and knowledgable staff like Eilleen retained. There's to be a public meeting on Wednesday evening at 6.30pm in Meersbrook (venue TBC) about it for any one interested in getting involved in a campaign to keep it open to the public.
  12. Same owner as the Wig & Pen understand. it's really improved. Been there a few times now as I work just across the road. Price of ale has gone up a bit though Will the award winning-beer garden return in the Spring?
  13. Lovely explanation Iceblast ! Do you know Mel Jones?
  14. Try this http://www.sheffieldguides.org.uk/index.htm it was only a google away
