Thank you JIGINC. I rang Dad and told him about the postings. He said that he would have a look at them on the Forum. He was amazed that after all this time someone remembered him, mind you he is one of those unforgettable types. Blessss. Keep Well. Delia

I know Munky. I live in Norwich (born and bred Sheffield) which is classed as South I suppose. I am a single parent existing on benefits but still havin to pay southern prices. I rent my home, can't afford to buy etc but I still have an income of far less than the S9 one. It's all so unequal this country of ours.

A nationwide survey has discovered that your postcode determines your income. Paycheck a computerised system which estimates average gross household incomes, including investments for the wealthy and benefit payments for the less well off. The richest postcode in the country is KT19 in Surrey at an average household income of £59,000 a year. The poorest is..........S9 in Sheffield with the average income being £16,000 a year. Confirming the North/South divide is getting wider

Yankee Candles make some really authentic smelly candles. If you see them on sale anywhere just lift the lids and smell 'em. Meadow Mist......smells of freshly mown grass Fresh Mint...like picking mint from the garden for mum and the new potatoes. Green apple....amazing.. How do they get the smells into the candles???

My dad worked there in the early sixties as a tv repairman. He then trained to be one of the first colour tv engineers in the country but took his skills to Radio Rentals. Wigfalls loss!

Looking for information on Carnelley/ Burkinshaws
delia replied to dragonlady5's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
I have quite a lot of info on the Burkinshaw's being one myself and endlessly trawling thro' census records and the like. My family originated in Ecclesfield and moved to the Ecclesall Bierlow district. If you have a specific Burkinshaw lead you need to trace I will gladly try and assist. -
Sheffield Genealogy, Family & Social History finding the info
delia replied to Grantham's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
I have a distant relation called Mary Denton b1805 (Ecclesfield) who married my ggg grandfather John Burkinshaw. Each generation since has had Denton as a christian name, my Dad for one. My mum decided that my brother wouldn't suit being a Denton so she called him Neil Denton Burkinshaw. By doing this broke the family tradition Hope this is useful in some way. Cheers
