  1. Just spoken to my daughter on the phone who tells me it looks pretty serious. She reckons a car has mashed into the HSBC bank. Several fire engines etc etc. Just cut the roof off the car. Should be fun getting home up Abbeydale Road tonight
  2. Thanks for that. I will give them a bell in the morning
  3. Thanks for your suggestion Lady Star, but unfortunately I need them for tomorrow
  4. Can anyone tell me where I might be able to buy L'escargot (Snails) in Sheffield. I believe you can get them in jars, but have had no luck in Sainsburys or Tesco. Thanks
  5. hi, i thought that i would introduce myself. I work for mencap and its me who keeps letting the lads have your details from the forum. Thank you for making new people so welcome. Thanks again.
  6. Just thought that I'd keep you up to date.... No news from the bus company but what a surprise....there has not been ANY buses waiting at that stop for the last 5 mornings!!!
  7. I have reported the situation to the YPTE and also to the traffic commisioner who apparently gave permission to stagecoach to make the bus stop a waiting place. At 7.30 in the morning the road junction is not at all the same as it is even half and hour later. The traffic comes in waves so as long as you time pulling out you have a good chance of there being no traffic in either direction. I guess that the point I was trying to make was that I have to pull out of the junction so far that I almost cross into the second lane just to see round the buses when they are there. When there is no bus/es waiting, the junction is fine. I am not going to take an alternative route or get on a bus to work as a solution unless the powers that be deem the junction unsafe and make it a one way road....I think that maybe I wanted people to support my right and maybe also complain as well to the relavent people if they also find it difficult to pull out!! Thanks for all the comments, I will let you know when and if I find oiut what they think after the investigation.
  8. Panel is like the purse for social services, the proposel is usually taken twice. firstly to get approvel in principal which means that they agree in principal to fund from an agreed date, but a week before you want the funding to start you have to go back again for comfirmed rubber stamping. It is all to do with where the money is going and how much is in what pot on what day. There isn't enough money to go round. Sometimes they change your request slightly and hopefully if your SW has done their job well they should have a good idea what the result will be.
  9. I do manage my risk on a day to day basis and don't put my life at risk, but I do think that one day someone could get seriously injured at that junction. I will wait and see what the YPTE make of the situation when they investigate my complaint.
  10. I don't know because i don't know what a point time is.
  11. My response wasn't really aimed at anyone...i am just a bit feb up with it every day and yes i could go a different route but that would mean going along way out of my way to aviod it. It is a problem for people trying to cross the road as well as car uses. all of the traffic has to move over into the one lane. I have talked to the YPTE and they are looking into it, apparently they have been told by stagecoach that they have regular complaints but that the Traffic commisioner has told the bus company that they need to stay put somewhere to make sure that they don't run early on the route.
  12. no they are not school buses, and unfortunalty because i work in the care in the community field i need my car for work.
  13. Does anyone else have the same problem as me, every morning around 7.20 to 7.35 I drive up Bannerdale road and want to turn right onto Ecclesall road. There is always at least one if not two sationary buses at the bus stop on Eccelsall road. I can't see past them to know when to pull out!! The road isn't that busy at that time in the morning but the buses being there means that you have to pull out over the first lane of traffic to be able to see past the buses so you know when its safe to pull out.
  14. I'm afraid that if you move before she has started at the school you could very well loose the place. It depends a lot on if the school is full....
  15. I am a bit confused...I don't understand why they didn't take the word of the GP and the consultant at the hospital, did they write letters for you to send in with the applications? Also I dont think it does matter about age or contributions previously made, i work with young people with learning difficulties and they tend to get incapacity benefit from leaving school. Good luck, please keep us informed....
  16. My duaghter would like a guitar and lessons for her birthday present, I've got the guitar but havn't managed to sort the lessons. She could have them at school but you have to share the lesson and only get 15mins. Has anyone out there got any contacts i could try, we live in the S8, Woodseats, Millhouses area.
  17. I believe that if your nan wants to stay in her won home then social services could put in more than one visit a day. She could also have a city wide alarm pendent for her to press if she gets into difficulty. Meals on wheels would also be an option if you are concerned about her lack of food, fortisips are horrible things. I know that medication is a tricky one, but we called my nans anti depressant tablets "happy Pills" because of the change we noticed. I think that it must be very difficult for prevously independent person to need support and i imagine that its difficult to ask for it. speak to social services and arrange fro them to visit your whole family for a meeting. Good luck
  18. steel city on Broadfield road, not used it myself but have heard of it. the other option is Colin who is bookable out of the civic center in dronfield, at the moment he is using the hall off the car park. My daughter has been with his for a couple of years.
  19. Has he had to give the details of his GP? Where i work if we wanted to employ someone we would send thier GP a medical form and role definitive and ask the GP to comment on the person suitability for the role.....
  20. I think that a letter shold be making its way to you about from the local education dept. we had a letter home last week(Abbey Lane), which is why i made the comment i did. Keep an eye out or go in and ask at school.
  21. Thank you for all your help... I don't much care if he can actually play football, we have a large garden but only a sister to play footie with and thats not always enough. He wants to kick a ball around with other kids. I have been in touch with Abbey Lane and they said that they would try to start up a group, but as yet i've heard nothing. The groups on a monday at tapton sounds great, but sadly monday teatime is the only day all week we can't sort out because of other committments. I am going to get in touch with greenhill to see what they have. Thanks again
  22. I've had a letter from school saying that if a child has a statement already then things won't change for them....
  23. I feel very sorry for you being so quick to judge without knowing the facts, you won't win many friends on this forum with that attitude. My 5 year old newly adopted son has requested to play football and as a nice kind parent I'm trying to find out where he can play. At his age I would not have left him there without me....just in case his coach turns out to be like you. thanks for your help in finding a group/team
  24. Go for it!! borrow a bike and see for the first few times, my husband did it for three days and gave up! down hill on the way and up hill on the way back. I think its great that you are even thinking about it, please promise to wear a helmet.....
