What's your earliest memory of starting school?

l went to Broomhill, the first thing l recall was the big rocking horse,l was crying but soon stopped when l was put on by Miss Watson and it started rocking, do you remember her or had she retired,/ 1929/to 1934 was my time there, l remember the large oval tin of sweets which she gave one to the kid for answering a difficult questionl enjoyed that class.Cheers Arfer Mo -
HI. I recall a photo in the Star, about the 80 ties of my policeman son, bent over a youg man who had jumped from the top, he tragicly was dead.

The Bailey's coalman, the Colley's tripe dressers,knew quite a few but memory lets me down,oh! the Walkers drapers,l lived on Sedan St and did work for these people and many others Tommy Radford included.

You have not said if you own or rent, or if you have a mortgage.if you rent you are obliged to tell the landlord,if you have a mortgage you are obliged to inform them.Other than that there shoud be no objection from anyone else, it does not require any building regs. Arfer Mo. -

Heard of cattawall which meant someone shouting and screaming, and would say it meant like cat do on top o f walls when courting but never heard of cattawang -

Hi there l live in France and whole heartedly agree with you, l knew one or two Clayton's in Sheffield one l used to drink with in the Pheonix White Lane another a car upholsterer in Rutland rd, ring any bells Cheers ARTHUR.

Hi Peewee 84 l have been in France now for 8 yrs and love the environment, and sometimes l do miss Sheffield but its the 60ties era and as someone said, one cant turn the clock back, as for the Sheffield of today, l dont miss the unwanted foul language between sexes, the constant muggings,the endless traffic jams, the ever growing concrete jungle taking place of the warm and friendly city that l knew, by the way have you come across another ex Sheffielder name of David Simmons who kept a bar in Sitges. Even if a move may improve things for you, im sure you've made the right move. Hoping to hear from you Cheers Arthur [arfer mo]

HI Texas All this is so familiar, but l think l did it a few years before you , if not we must have crossed paths, was the bagatelle table still in the room to the right in the Red Lion when you went in. Cheers Arthur. -

Including 5 motor bikes,2 lorries l have had 41 vehicles 1st license 1940 [ never had a test],BUT in over 72 years of driving l have a clean license, and still drive! this must be some sort of record do you think Arfer Mo -

HI I Knew a family of Cottams who took over a vacant shop about 1947 corner of Sutherland rd and Petre st l fitted it out with work benches , women dressed crabs and potted them the father was called Joe anyone remember them. Arthur. -
The re was an Alf Rawson kept the chipshop next door to the Earl of Arundel And Surrey on Queens Rd in the 50ties
