  1. Keg? Evil Keg?!? MAY THE POWER OF CASK COMPEL YOU! Seriously tho, I love this place and their cask and keg (and bottles and cans). Good on you chaps.
  2. Have just seen this on Facebook which could provide the explanation. Didn't know Malin Bridge was such a party venue
  3. Hi, So I'm sitting in my garden enjoying the balmy night and can hear loud '80s music coming from somewhere in the Hillsborough area. Does anyone know what/where it is? Not a complaint BTW
  4. They've taken far too long over this now. Dead leaves, berries, litter, dog poo and other assorted detritus will now be incorporated into the pavement surface, ready to make holes later on. Well done Amey.
  5. I am just amazed the council have gone against the University for once.
  6. Fox and Duck and Broomhill Tavern should be good bets. Also further up in Crookes you've got the Grindstone, Noah's Ark and Ball which I think all have sky. Then an easy bus back to town.
  7. The Wentworth next to Forgemasters would be your best bet.
  8. Yes. It has been refurbished to a high standard, the toilets especially, although I did note the removal of vending machines selling certain, er, electrically powered bedroom aids that were there before. Lots of TV screens with Sky/BT sports on. Pool table. Quizzer. http://tinyurl.com/zrdk6jg (link to photo on Google Maps) I was in a couple of weeks ago on a Friday night, and it was more busy than the Grindstone, a bit less so than the Ball, but a lot better than it was before. Decent enough atmosphere anyway. However, if you're looking for interesting beer it isn't the place. Couple of 4%-ish casks on, the one I had was well-kept but boring. Loads of chrome lager taps. I've no particular objection to going again, but only with a group of people who want to go, and in the knowledge that I'd not drink anything interesting.
  9. This may change for the worse if Heineken get their way
  10. That's going to be "interesting", I guess a few people will end up walking to Meadowhall
  11. Back again next month folks Thursday 2nd March to Saturday 4th March http://www.magnarealale.uk Looks like it's the usual arrangements, but no mention of the special buses to Meadowhall/Rotherham like last time so have asked on their facebook group.
  12. Itchy Pig? Bar Stewards? (although not sure they're open this weekend)
  13. Well to be quite honest it's about time the bus companies got with the program and installed contactless payment on buses. I'd much rather pay by tapping my phone / card than dicking around with change.
  14. Yes. Bit of a weird one though, you have to hold the button down until you get to the floor you want, otherwise the lift stops ---------- Post added 16-01-2017 at 15:07 ---------- It's not a pub though, in the traditional sense. It's a bar.
  15. So I went in last night. Top floor bar, all open to the air so it was freezing of course. About 4 wood fires. Blankets provided. Comfy seats. Quite hipster obviously. Beer selection OK, some keg and some bottles/cans in the fridge. I had a Magic Rock Salty Kiss. I'll have no particular objection to going again, but I can see it being rammed in summer.
  16. It's your stomping ground taxman, so it's your mission to find out Saying that, I'll be passing by tomorrow and report back if I go in.
  17. That place made out of shipping containers, next to the er, Ship. Is there a bar in there now? Anyone been in?
  18. Halcyon days. Kaltenberg or something wasn't it?
  19. On a similar vein, why have you disappeared from RATS - Viz?
  20. Well I've been in a couple of times at the weekend since I wrote that. I didn't *see* anyone like that there, in fact there were more normal people there than not. I'd suggest going in. It's a lot busier than it was.
  21. I've been a passenger in such vehicles at times this has happened. V. useful
  22. Can highly recommend corgigasman Steve. Replaced our leaking cold water tank last year and plumbed into a different location. Also this week he's just serviced, and fixed an annoying problem with, our old boiler all for reasonable rates
