  1. no, it's not an English exam but if you want to be taken seriously then write in grammatically correct English
  2. For goodness sake, speak English, it's those two not them two
  3. as a driver, in charge of a weighty object moving at speed, surely you have some responsibility to pay attention to the road ahead, so what if it narrowed, if you were paying attention you would not need signage to tell you this. Start taking responsibility instead of looking for easy payouts
  4. The point is, we have the 'choice' to be a sheep or not. communism does not afford you that right
  5. Thatcher did what needed to be done-people go on about the miners, but they were a bunch of blackmailing dinosaurs, striking for more pay and creating mass power cuts, yet coal mining was a dying industry. No-one felt sorry for other 'craftsmen' who's skill became redundant-blacksmiths, farriers, corner shop owners, so many jobs become redundant with time and progress
  6. The Steel City Club – a few hundred yards away, still open for business and still packing them in. The two on Bellhouse Road. The one on Hatfield House Lane. And isn’t there the Firth Park Working Mens Club? Admittedly not so close but still within a reasonable commuting distance? Not sure if there are any at Lower Wincobank but there are certainly plenty of friendly pubs there. There are also plenty of community centres in Shiregreen, Flower Estate, Firth Park and Lower Wincobank – so what’s the problem?
  7. Hear, hear. Let's get a few things straight: 1. This is NOT a Sheffield landmark. The outside of the club wasn't even seen in the Full Monty film. Basically, all that was seen was the stage - a stage that could be any stage anywhere. Most Sheffielders would not even be able to tell you exactly where this club is - the majority would walk past it without even realising its stage had been in a film. 2. There are at least 5 working mens clubs that I know of within walking distance of this club - it's demolition would not be a loss, infact it would be to the benefit (and profit) of the remaining clubs. 3. A new housing development would bring new people with new money into the area. This would invigorate the area and make it a more desirable place to live. 4. Getting rid of this club would bring an end to the noise, shouting, arguing, drunkeness, fighting and all other forms of anti social behaviour experienced by local residents at filling-up and closing time. I could go on, but I'll finish with a question. I live VERY close to this club but nobody has asked me or my neighbours for our views or asked us to sign any petition, so where have all these petitioner names come from? If you don't patronise this club, or live next to it, and have to experience the anti social behaviour - please think carefully before voicing uninformed opinions.
  8. Sniper towers and landmines should help
  9. I find this post quite worying, why do you want to do this?
  10. absolutely-I liase very closely with the police and cannot believe how apathetic they are- if they used their powers half as much as they could, and if the courts sentenced appropriately then we might get somewhere. SOUTH YORKSHIRE POLICE-COOKING THE BOOKS, PASSING THE BUCK. DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE 101 NUMBER:rant:
  11. Please please please take me seriously-what does erk mean?????
  12. There is that word "erk" again, will somebody please tell me what it means? I know I am not down with the kids anymore, but like to keep up to date with the latest phrasology
  13. Re-iterating my advice in case it was missed before, any other people in need of a common sense solution to a problem please do not hesitate to contact me:)
  14. Call me sensible, but if I was having work done by contractors, whether I lived in a rented house, a palace, a cardboard box or an igloo, I would have the good sense to cover up/remove anything of value until said work was complete. Maybe I am just gifted with a higher than average IQ........
