  1. I am 90 years old and use a bus occasionally,i have no objections to pushchairs on a bus but think it should be restricted to 2 chairs at anyone time. Some of these pushchairs are like charriots,if they want to use them on a bus they should get one more suitable, when my kids were young we had a small one and it was always ready folded when we boarded a bus,if you get more than 2 on the bus they tend to block the passageway usually with 3 or 4 shopping bags full hanging from the handles

  2. I was diagnosed as having an x ray on my chest after having a fall,i was called back to NGH for a biopsy and told i had asbestosis I went to Weston Park Hospital every day for a month for radiotherapy, this was 2 years ago and i am now told it is under control and go for a scan very 6 months I was later contacted by SARAG (South Yorkshire Asbestos Victims Across South Yorkshire) 01709360672 and a young lady came to visit me and gave me advice on claiming for compensation, she brought the necessary form with her and completed it all form, all i did was just to sign it

A short time after i received a letter telling me i had been awarded a pension for life,it depends how high you are assessed at so would suggest you contacted SARAG

  3. My wife and self made a will in 1993 and recently decided to make a new will as things have changed since making the last one. We paid £168 for the two wills which I thought was quite reasonable considering the solicitor visited my home as my wife is housebound

The solicitor told me we should consider taking a power of attourney as well and quoted us £2,400 which I considered pricey. I have since made enquiries and found I can make one myself that will cost £130,do I have to take the powers of attourney with the solicitor

  4. During the war years i often queued down Duke Street for horsemeat when i was on my afternoon week

My mother queued at Gebhards on the Manor Centre for chitterling and i would take it to work for my packing up. I had it that often i aquired the name of Baggy

The tripe man (Rueben Short) used to come round with his horse and dray on a Thursday tea time and we had tripe and onions for tea on a Friday (Best meal of the week)

  5. The Medical centre was on what i think was Norroy street alongside the Lord Nelson pub It was Known as the CCS (casualty clering station)Firth Brown had their own ambulance during the was years I believe it closed shortly after the VJ day

There was also an ambulance rom on Carilsle St just past the Corner Pin pub and several ambulance rooms in the time offices at various gates

  6. My father worked at Pears @ Frost who were situated next to the Wicker Arches, they were corn merchants and the place was over run by rats.they hired Welcome Gillatt one week end in the late 1930,s and he caught around 200 rats over the week end My Dad set traps before closing at night and first job the next morning was to go round the traps with an iron poker

  7. I have been supporting Sheffield united since 1935 and saw them lose 1-0 to Arsenal in the 1936 Cup Final(Ted Drake was the goalscorer)

I believe that one of the reason,s why Hagan did,nt sign for Wednesday was because he needed a minor operation on his foot so he could go on the FA tour to Australia

One player i hav,nt seen mentioned was little Bobby Reid, who played on the left wing

The final game of the 38/39 season was against Tottenham and United had to win to gain promotion to the 1st division,United had the ball in the net in the first minute and won the game 6-1. That was the best team i have seen during my time in following the blades

  8. My grandparents lived on St Phillips Rd in the 1930,s,and there was a lad named Jimmy Fletcher lived in the next yard ,who was a singer on the Sandy Powell programme

When Sandy Powell was on This is your life, it was said he was born on Jan30th 1900 I remember this because it was the day before my Dad was born

  9. First shouldn't pay! It wasn't their fault. Won't the ladies home insurance cover it??

First should be happy to pay up and think they had got away with it lucky,if a child had been walking there and been hit by the a bus that obviosly was,nt secure when yobs could set it in motion and it should have been moved earlier, not like the usual 2 or 3 hours before first remove a broken down bus
