  1. probably not gonna get much in the way of talk on her bout that.... try googling "DragonSlayers" who are a gaming club based in sheff/mansfield or go to warhammer.org where there's a pretty active message board with peeps form Sheffield on. to be fair - the people that go to the vets night in Sheff are sound as so you'll be cool there. they're not cliquey or owt!
  2. Hannah Rei (technically form Wakefield i believe but plays in Sheff a lot) is the most incredible female singer i've ever heard. beuatiful to boot too!! Quite likke "Cats for Peru" for a weird indy kinda trip. Absolutely love "The Crookes" and been watching them for a while! they will be big - guaranteed! "Tiananmen" seem to have got their top form back which is good as i loved these then they went a bit naff for a bit... Rest of Sheff scene feels quite tired at the moment - or thinks it's bigger/better than it is!
  3. Where is Bladesunited? It's been officially closed with the only reason given that "they" dont have the resources to run it.... i was only using this an hour ago - bit annoyed that they couldn't have given us a warning... i sense something more sinister!
  4. notice how the people knocking it are the ones who have never been/had kids there.... ...interesting...noi?
  5. sucks mate but that poor checkout lass would've gotten a fine of £1000 had she sold it to a minor...obviously i get that you and your mate weren't which boils down to....welcome to a corporate compensation world. She'd have got a right bollocking off her boss had she NOT followed these ridiculous pricedures as they have these "challenge 25" things eveywhere now... either way...who doesn't carry ID around with them these days? i always have my driving license counterpart with me just to save the embarrassment of getting turned away fromt a bar...
  6. Sorry for double post - but thought i'd point put you'd probably be parking on top of a slide or inflatbable football pitch if you chose this option as they have all the stuff in said car park!!!
  7. Ok how has no-one picked up on this guy being a jester.... complaining about the environment and then goes on to say they're flying to New Zealand next month.... thanks for the chuckle!...of course, if you're serious....then you're probably worryingly retarded! back on topic....dude, it's Sunday, free parking everywhere...if you get thereearly you'll be able to pinch a spot round Shireham St, if not just keep going down the back roads...
  8. Don't have kids there but visited there this year as part of my teaching course. The building is very nice and clean and the class sizes aren't alarming, they're quite regular even. The classrooms i taught in were rather on the small side but this is an unfortunate trend of newer modern buildings. Despite it's reputation, the kids were really sound with us (i had a lower and upper math class!) however one of my course mates got quite a bit of verbal abuse from one of them in a different class, but that's just disrespectful kids these days and more a reflection on the parents than the school. The teachers are very good and do wonders with what they've got to work with. With a bit of community support and help from the parents (teaching of respect and manners!!!), oit's a matter of when not if the school will improve. With it being an academy, it's a trickling effect, but i think you'll see positive results each year! Hope this helped!
  9. aye - because if it was a mobile speed gun, they are legally obliged to inform you that speed camera's are operating in the area at elast 200 yards prior to the camera...(not too sure on the specifics of the distance...)
  10. Well me and the missus' went on the weekend and thought it was rather excellent. Meat and Vegetables/Fruit seem to be incredibly cheap. They have whole chickens for £1.98 which i wouldn't buy but they have free range whole chickens for £3.98 which is great avlue in my eyes. I can believe how snobby some people are that they would turn their nose up at Lidl/Aldi/Netto's. I did when i was a kid cause you got the **** ripped out of you! Social Stigma's and all that....but now i'm an adut shopping for myself it seems daft to not buy the same food cheaper. The missus' loved it as it was like shopping abroad... ...one mans eurotrash is another's treasure!
  11. Heard that it's hot Sheffield Uni But dont worry - it's all being used as propaganda to distract the gulilble masses away from MP's expenses and other matters of real concern
  12. Easy with the "picking on" teacher's grammar. This is a message board not and English essay. i'm training to be a maths teacher and couldn't really give a **** about my spelling sometimes. Back on topic: ha! seems you got caught out! - Lovin' it!
  13. i think under contract law you have 24 days from the start of the contract to decide against it - not sure on the specifics but if you can change to virgin i'd reccomend it - we get 'net, phone and TV for £30 a month and they've never let us down and even ring us up every few months offering us free tv upgrades for a month!
  14. grounded!!!! NO WAI>?! What with all the xboxes and playstations these days i imagine being ground is ****ing brilliant!
  15. sorry to add to your misery but my mate has had nothing but grief with Talktalk - we're in heeley area with Virgin and it's been fantastic service (cable!)
  16. I'm suprised at your reaction. think not only about the healty and Safety here. if your son had trip and damaged himself in the torrential rain would you not now be posting on here asking about the best ways to sue the school for negligence for allowing them out in such stuid conditions? Also bear in mind what others above have said. School Rule - broken...punishment should be applauded not shot down - thats why kids think they can get away with anything these days...people complain about lack of discipline in schools and then chastise them or dont support them when they try! Thirdly, consider the H&S and the potential damage to school books/stuff on the walls when 30 **** wet through kids come storing in shaking their wet stuff all over... you should be more supportive of your school and instead of trying to get him out oof it - try telling him off and teaching him some resepct for rules???
  17. Would reccomend Decathalon for buying your camping gear from if you're a newb like me. Really useful to ahev it all under one roof with loads of cheap options (incase, like me you hated it first go!!!) ...well. i hated the rain in cornwall...love camping at festivals...bit chalk and cheese though!
  18. No hatred of rotherham at all. Nothing to hate really - Nothing to love mind you. As a blade i've always had a soft spot for the Millers and always wanted them to do well. love them for beating Wednesday (although now i'm more concerned for us beating wednesday first and foremost!!!). Now Barnsley on the other hand....i've nothing personal against "it" and "it's residents" as a whole but with the recent gain in BNP voting seen there it's getting itself an incedibly bad reputation... Rotherham gets itself some silly unneccessary bad press like those stupid mothers pushing cheeseburgers through the gate - makes all Rotherham citizens come off as fat obese chavs...if you believe the papers! Doncaster - i like Donny, again spurred on by a love of their team! But the recently elected Mayor could do some serious long term damage to his constituency with his medieval ways... never got the whole people calling us Sheffielders "Dee-Dars" - to me, it's barnsley folk who "Dee Dar" ....?
  19. Thats really cheeky of them! Considering it their patrons which fill up the centertainment car park...
  20. I would reccomend Sheffield MIND? they've helped me enormously in the past
  21. 4 horsemen of the apocalypse 13 in a bakers dozen dunno the last but "24 number of weeks in school calender"
  22. Wow some of you are really quite annoying. Thanks Helen, despite what people here read and assumed i am grateful for how it has been dealt with. My post was based off of what i heard on Radio Sheff which indicated that it (the gym) might be closed for a week and the pools were still unsure because they may need to change the pumps or something like that. To the other people. I dont think you understand. If it is just a few days (as it has turned out) then thats not a problem. But if it had turned into a week i would expect my next billing date to be put back a week. yes i realise i sign up for the fitness unlimted package but i signed up at ponds forge for use of the ponds forge facilities because they are next tp my work. i have no intention of ever using the hillborough facilities because it means going hugely out of my way to then double nack on myself to go home... I also have an unlimited cineworld card. If Cineworld sheffield were suddenly shut (through no fault of their own i hasten to add) for a week would you not expect your billing date for that to be pushed back a week? Or would you say "go to chesterfield?" I used to play warcraft a few years ago (which is a monthly subscription service for those not in the know) and if their realms/servers were ever down they would just push your billing day back the same amount of days... Like i say, it's all a moot point if the Gym is re-opening on Saturday as 4 days isn't that much of an inconvenience...but geez, people on here really take any opportunity to jump at someone don't they?
  23. thats all very good and all saying "we can use hillsborough" but i signed up for ponds forge....not to have to pay to travel to get to hillsborough or don valley. I think Fitness unlimited members shoul be compensated for however long the gym is out of use...
  24. Thanks beakerzoid for all you explanations. I've had a cineworld card bacl since the day's of UGC and can't remember NOT having one. I am quite annoyed lately though. As you've offered such nicely worded explanations so far i was wondering if you could have a stab at these: 1) Screenings (Time) - It' seems that there is a big gap in screenings at them moment. A whole load of film seem to start at 8 o clock (which seems fair as thats the nice family time i guess) and then nothing until 10+ with the lovely late showings at 11:30 for new releases on Fri/Sat. 2) Overselling - I reckon that Cinewrold have actually sold too many Unlimited tickets. You say 20% of all numbers are Unlimited tickets. I guess i have to take your word as you obviously are ITK but it seems like more and more people have them than ever 3) 3D films - Ok not a huge occurence for me but as thye do seem to be more popular, why are unlimited holders now being charged £1.50 extra to see these? I'd understand if it was for the glasses which i already have 20+pairs of but you guys make no attempt whatsoever to cut costs by recycling these glasses like they do at Disneyland for their 3D attractions? Surely someone in management must have brought this up?? 4) Price of normal films have shot up seriously! As i am unlimited and dont suffer this directly it made me think that more people, agrieved with the rising prices will realise they can save money on the unlimited card so choose that...thus increasing the number/queue size. 5) Due to the above reasons, "Unlimited" card membership seems to have lost it's "exclusiveness" that it once had for us films geeks. Probably just a change in the social zeitgeist but i remember coming to see the LOTR films at 11.30 and there'd only be me and my mates in the screening...nowadays even those showings are rammed - probably due to the crap timings of the screening. 6) Food Concessions - The prices now are absolutely beyond appauling and no one in their right mind would buy them at this price? There was a time when i'd buy the large cheesey nachos with every film (and i go 2-3 a week!)...then the price shot up and you obviously went with another caterering source because now you have that crap "cheese-in-a-tub"...and its around £7 for nachos.... All in all i reckon that Cineworld has survived this long and done so well due to the ineptitude of other cinema's to cotton on the the unlimited card business model - if there was more competition in this form i reckon it would greatly increas the service/cost happiness at Cineworld...
  25. Being a bit harsh on teachers much? It's not their fault their school a craphole and leaked into all the rooms. You wouldn't want your kid going in to sit in a damp wet musty classroom....what do you expect the teachers to do when the kids aren't there...? Even when teachers are home and the general public seems to think they're doing nothing but sunnin themselves and chillin, they're working on lesson plans, marking coursework/homework. A teachers workday doesn't end at 3pm just cause the school does.
