  1. Yes, that is them. Suz is still about, I seem to run into her most times I go up to Sheffield - last time was in the Corp last year. You would recognise her instantly. I havn't seen Syl for about 20 years, but I think Suz is still in touch with her. Do you feature yourself on any of these from this era, or did you manage to avoid the camera?
  2. Radical Idea:- School hours to be 8.45 am to 5.15 pm in order to fit in with working hours of the parents. School holidays to be 25 floating days plus bank holidays, to be taken at any time by arrangement with the school, and any work missed to be caught up on return. Kids would leave school prepared for the real world, and parents could get on with working and earning. Holidays would be true family holidays with all the family off at the same time and sharing proper quality time.
  3. Playing your own music live, with a band, in front of a large and apreciative audience.
  4. What do you miss in Sheffield that used to be here? Rebels, The Wap, Me My Youth
  5. From my own (cynical) experience, I really don't have a clue! Yes they will. In fact I left the first Mrs Till - about 10 minutes after she told me she had been sh*gging her boss for the previous 12 months!! Now why do so many threads assume that all men are b*st*rds and all women are perfect?! It just isn't the case!! In my opinion, if you are so unhappy with your relationship that you are even contemplating straying then it is time to go - before getting anyone else involved!!
  6. I can hear it now:- "And finally, in the industrial northern village of Sheffield, near Leeds, something has been eating the roads. It is understood that:- "Twas Brillig when the Slithy tove," "Ate the Tarmac off the Roads" So, don't go there. It's grim up North. And there aren't enough Starbucks."
  7. Very pretty diagram, but where is the fish tank on here?? :hihi:
  8. Aged 26 I got my first liquor licence to run a pub. Obviously well chuffed at this I stopped on the way back from court at a supermarket to buy a bottle to celebrate with. The woman on the checkout id'd me as she wasn't sure I was over 18! All this is years ago now of course
  9. But Terry MAKES Eurovision. It is Terry's dry comments and musings that keeps this show entertaining through the hours of cr*p albanian folk music and bulgarian disco. No, we are now never going to win it - as much because we are dispised throughout most of Europe, as the way that nations vote for their neighbours - but it is still fun to poke fun at.
  10. Next year Norton will be getting none of my money, but it is done now. No, my mail provider does not give me that facility. I have thought of just changing my mail provider to one that does, but I am job hunting at the moment, and of course my mail address is on all of the (100+) cv's I have sent out. There has to be an add on that I can use for this, it is just that everything I can find by Googling claims that it and nothing else works, and then lapses into technobabble as to why.
  11. Tough call this one............ Can I be Bill Gates and Ron Jeremy?
  12. Did your mother have photos of you as a child? If so the likelyhood is that yes you were born as you have photographic proof!
  13. OK, I have been out and bought Norton Internet Security 2007 to replace my Norton Internet Security 2006. After finally managing to wrestle it onto my machine (a whole other story) I have found that unlike NIS2006, NIS2007 does not have the Spam Filter facility. Now putting aside that it it Norton, (I really don't want a lecture from everyone on what they all think of it) can anyone recommend a good free Spam Filter I can install and use instead. I liked the way that the Norton version pushed spam mails into a different folder as it allowed me to check that mails were Spam before deleting them, and would ideally like something that does something similar.
  14. No, because the smoking ban covers public places. An hotel room is not a public place. It is a private place occupied by someone who is renting the use of it.
  15. Legalise it, control it, make it only available to the over 21's and Tax it. This way it would no more lead people into taking hard drugs than booze or fags do at the moment! (and it does a person less harm than either)
  16. Non-smoking rooms.......... one of my pet hates. The usual trick is that they put you into a non-smoking room without telling you, or tell you at reception that all they have left is non smoking rooms. They do this in spite of the fact that you have specifically booked a smoking room. I deliberately avoid booking into that hotel if I discover when booking that they have no smoking rooms left, and now completely boycot the Innkeepers Lodge chain as they are totally non smoking. If I have taken the time and trouble to ensure that my "filthy, dirty, unhealthy, anti-social, etc, etc.........." habit can be done in my own private space by booking that space specifically then I expect their half of that deal to be honored. If therefore they fail............ sod 'em, I smoke in the room anyway! Let them learn via the extra cost of cleaning and airing the room to return its' odour to the standard that a non smoker now expects to keep their part of the deal!!
  17. I always did have a thing for red haired women, although I should have learned that it is nature's warning flag!! (Why is it that redheaded women are so volatile anyway?) Now having a beautiful redhead as a daughter I am even more biased!!
  18. Yeah, yeah, yeah.............. because it is always the blokes fault if a woman strays, and a blokes fault if he strays himself. The woman can never be at fault with anything can they? They are always driven to it by their bloke. Strewth, give me strength against this sort of attitude! If she is a slapper then she has become a slapper all by herself, no-one has forced her into it!!
  19. You also still have my Ibanez which is worth way more than £50!!!
  20. If I were in his shoes then I would want to know. If I were in his shoes and found out, then found out that you knew all along, I would never forgive you. Be subtle and either hint at the problem or engineer a circumstance for him to find out.
  21. Every day is a day at school! I stand corrected and will remember.
  22. Mr Spires ("Hey you boy..................." etc)
  23. Is the feminine version of Frank not Francis?
  24. Oh.... and Suzy when used as being "short" for Susan. Susan - 2 syllables Suzy - 2 syllables No................... It is not short for Susan, it is short for pretentious!
