Woah! Are you genuinely saying being disabled is "a habit"? -

Top of Springvale is being closed, at Western Road. 25th April. You might be able to walk 400m but some can't, which you are wilfully ignoring. -

I'm sure there's somebody who will have a grumble if you ask but the reason it's a small minorty is that it has been in place for a long time and it mainly surrounds the hospital sites. There are some residences clearly but not nearly as many as the area being affected now. -

I don't know the ones on Manchester Road, Fulwood road or Glossop road but thanks for pointing out the others. -

Closed means closed to motor vehicles with obstructions. Yes you can access Greenhow st all points but if you want to go to the doctors from the top you'll have to drive round to south Road etc. I get your point though, and I would agree that Greenhow Street does need traffic calming measures on safety grounds the speed people fly up and down there. I am sorry I misread! Weren't a lot of those created when the dual carriageway was built though? -

You made me laugh about fir street! Agreed! I was simply making a list for Andrew C as he requested one. Though I will say that the closing of Matlock and Fir Street will encourage more reckless driving on heavy gate as there will less concern over potential traffic from those junctions. Thank you. Appreciate the explanation. -

Right I'm happy to debate but please be respectful. There's no need to start emphasising words with Capitals or saying things like "spouting cliches". I accept that cycling takes place in safer streets but surely we should be looking at creating proper distinct cycleways on main arteries like ecclesall road, south Road, Penistone road, attercliffe road, Chesterfield Road etc. Creating cul de sacs isn't going to do it. And yes I think cycling is more accessible in flatter areas. Do people really claim DNA? That's a little crazy. I was referring to retail parks, shopping centres and hypermarkets where driving is the designed model to visit, as opposed to local shopping parades. For example there is only one butchers and two bakers in terms area all on south road. The supermarkets actively fight to crush small shops. -

No there isn't but I can remember there being a fuss when they closed it. I can only think of five or six culde sacs in crookes. Victorian , built before cars. -

They've been trying to discourage people for twenty plus years but people simply won't give up there cars, and like water will go another way or sit in it. We need electric cars and improved local infrastructure but that won't happen because of the shift in retail to online and the domination of national chains. -

I understand what you're saying but cul-de-sac s tend to be on the edge of suburbs . -

I think childhood obesity is down to more than driving (junk food, no free sports anymore etc), and the driving is more down to covenience for parents than roads not being safe. -

Is that on Harcourt Rd? Access may be there but there will be greater traffic on the roads off Slinn Street as they are now the only access points, and the only exit route for those on springvale and Melbourne Rd living past Mona Rd. The traffic at the bottom of Springvale will be more concentrated meaning getting and out will be more difficult and stressful. It's not filtering, it is closing.
