  1. It's all part of the plan. Step 2 - do absolutely nothing to address climate change Step 3 - lower the drinking age to 12 Step 4 - put the sozzled children to work in the Yorkshire vineyards Reduces the benefit bill, solves the agricultural worker shortage and we can whack massive tariffs on the French. What's not to love? 🥂
  2. Obviously they're has to be a cut-off at some point, but 40 litres seems a bit odd. Presumably that means 9 Gal firkins (standard size for cask ale) will be included but a lot of craft brewers (often producing keg beers in 30 litres or less) either won't benefit or have to switch the barrels they use. My guess is they didn't understand the changes in the industry over the past decade and they'll shift the volume down a bit before it comes in. Alternatively it's a deliberate decision designed to target help towards larger brewers. Obviously this sort of tax cut already most benefits the multinationals producing low quality products on a massive scale. Incompetence or cronyism? Not a fan of either but they're both on brand. 🤣🤣🤣
  3. Maybe, depends on the till system. There's lots of ways around most, I probably shouldn't list them 🤐. Bit harder to do if a large % of sales are going through a card terminal. Just to be clear though, I think there's nothing to see here and the OP is off their rocker.
  4. They're mere 30 litres (about 7 gals) but yeah I think it's safe to say they're empty and plastic. Used to have to rack 18 gallon barrels on my own, my back still hasn't forgiven me. That photo is incredible though. Does anyone look at things like that and think 'yeah, glad they're running the country'?
  5. Turning over £15k in the before times isn't too shabby, has a pretty good reputation and I'm inclined to believe they're only selling it because they don't have the time to devote to it. Maybe I'm just too trusting. If someone was gonna do a food lead pub in Sheffield it seems a good option and probably would've been sold for more 2 years ago. Probably not for me even if I had the funds, but I expect they'll be a taker.
  6. As someone who has a bad education I feel it would be a good idea to put forward an idiotic counterpoint. Petrol and diesel powered cars are on the way out though simply replacing them with electric ones won't solve most of the problems. Needs a fundamental shift and much better and cheaper public transport, unfortunately that's not looking likely anytime soon. As for electric lorries, the technology just isn't there yet. The energy density for batteries is just far too low compared to fossil fuels, by the time you've got a big enough power source you won't actually be able to carry any cargo. Maybe you could put your education to good use and invent a better battery?
  7. Guess the foodhalls are making good money and taking up their time. Not that surprised it's up for sale but £100k does seem cheap, if I wasn't broke I'd be tempted.
  8. I've not noticed lots of local venues being cash-only but I can think of a few that are card-only. Maybe we're just going to different places, it's kinda weird that you think it's atrocious and should be called out but don't name them. Anyway seems you're jumping to conclusions based on very little evidence. Card machines do go down, if the venue was trying to avoid paying taxes lying about it being broken seems an odd choice when they can just be cash-only.
