  1. We started our little one on solids at 5 months and he is a fantastic eater now at 11 months. I think the most definite advice is to wait until at least 16 weeks and then after that you go by your baby. Some good pointers are...can the baby sit well by themselves, has their tongue reflex mostly gone (try feeding a little baby rice on a spoon to see whether they automatically push the food out again or not), has the baby doubled it's birth weight. Our little one had started waking every two hours through the night and feeding twice as much through the day when we decided to start on solid food. Just take it steady and treat it as fun, they soon get onto 3 meals a day and you look back wistfully to the times when all you had to do was sterilise a bottle or get your boobs out!
  2. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has used this babysitting service? My partner and I are getting married ( ) and have booked them to babysit in the evening. They sound very professional, are CRB checked and we are going to meet the babysitter first, but just thought I would see if anyone else has used them?
  3. Hi there, I had a home birth and the neighbours could blatantly hear me, but you honestly don't give a damn! I wouldn't worry about it at all. It's not like the neighbours will be thinking god I wish that woman would have her baby somewhere else, they'd probably be excited for you and wishing you the best!
  4. Hi, I did yoga all through my pregnancy and it was brilliant. I went to a few classes run by Olivia who was mentioned before, but I have been doing yoga for a while myself and was able to do it at home most days. I don't know if there is any correlation but I had a great birth, 5 and a half hours at home with only gas and air!
  5. I agreed with the not having spare time comment from Fox - but then I thought that if I was fitter I would have more energy and possibly need less sleep so decided to prioritise! I'm a fair way off getting a sparkly, bare all outfit though - mostly doing it in joggers and t-shirt... Must admit though, the washing is piling up.
  6. I joined boomshanka bellydance group - based in Heeley. You can google their site - they're a lovely group. But mainly I bought a book of bellydancing moves and my other half bought me a shimmy hip scarf and a couple of CDs of Egyptian bellydancing music, so when baby jellyfish goes for his morning nap I dance away!
  7. Just wanted to say that I've discovered belly dancing!! It's great for toning your hips and abs and also if you've got some belly flab then it's all about showing it off. Wahey!
  8. That reminds me, has anyone seen the clip of 'Rainbow' on You Tube? It's apparently an actual episode that was aired - have a look -it's gobsmacking! (I would put on a link but I'm not sure how to)
  9. My other half told me that when he was very young he stood on the bottom step of the stairs and leant forward to see what would happen....obviously what happened was he fell flat on his face! He was fine....that's one way to learn I guess!
  10. You've still got plenty of time for baby to turn, but you could try out some acupuncture or shiatsu massage. Also, not sure how true this is but I have heard that if you go swimming and go upside down under water it can help the baby to turn!
  11. Epaderm to all intents and purposes looks and feels like vaseline, but you can mix it with water and use in the bath or just put it straight on. We were advised to apply it 4 times daily but I'm not going near the stuff now. Baby's weeping nipple has returned - I have a doctors appt booked for monday so we'll see what they say. Unfortunately, evening primrose oil hasn't helped thus far and eczema has flared up again even worse! ( Possibly due to Epaderm...argh!) Poor baby jelly looks like he has been in a fight! Gonna try oatmeal next. I have discovered however after your oily fish tip Zebra, that baby jelly loves sardines!
  12. OK - I'm confused..! I have googled sodium lauryl sulphate and it doesn't sound good. But, the epaderm prescribed by my HV for baby's eczema has got it in it...?! Huh??
  13. Thanks again everyone for your replies. The health visitor prescribed baby jelly some Epaderm which seems to be like vaseline - it's not really making that much difference. When the HV saw his weeping nipple though she said it would definitely need antibiotic cream and got me to make an appt with the doctor. With the greatest respect, I think that I'd rather avoid antibiotics if at all possible though! So we have basically put savlon on it and a plaster - and it seems to be getting better...hurray!! (BTW - I will obviously be keeping an eye on it and get to the Drs if I have to) I'm going to try the oatmeal tip next...
