  1. I have spondylitis in my neck which is my worst problem I also have a dodgy knee and arthritis in my finger and my left thumb. My right hip has suddenly started playing up as well, it isn't that painful but I think it isn't going to get better anytime soon. I have been cycling for many years and think it is wear and tear as I'm 64 and I am still cycling. I try not to let it bother me to much but my hip does not play up while cycling, just when I lay on my right side i can feel the dull pain. It hasn't stopped me from carrying on with my sports but I definitely feel it at times
  2. Well getting back on topic which is Hospital Radio, I was a DJ at Northern Radio which what hospital radio was called in 1980. In them days it was based in the tower at Lodge Moor hospital having transferred from the Northern General. Sometimes you would get special guests calling in, I remember Bob Monkhouse calling in one day and giving a 2 hour interview whch was all recorded on reel to reel tape. The engineers were technically very good Peter Kelsey was name that springs to mind he was an engineer but didn't present as far as I remember. Gordon Harrison went on to broadcast on Radio Sheffield and so did one or two others. Great days but such a long time ago now
  3. I went to school with Lynne and Neil siblings and also Elaine Staniland no relation
  4. GMB hires Andy Peters who travels round the globe to promote that competition and the quote today was about Prince Harry jetting off to see his mates and yes I do agree with you about Harry and Meghan it still gets up my nose him being criticised by GMB who themselves are as bad as he is. How do you know Andy Peters doesn't go banging on about climate change if you don't know who he is..
  5. What about the 1950s murder where a Father killed his Son who had learning difficulties this happened at 5 Longley Cresc S5, I put a thread on here years ago. What happened to Charles Hall. posted a topic in Sheffield History & Expats
  6. I was watching GMB as usual for about half an hour this morning before I go to work and they were having a go at Harry jumping on his mates Jet to go to somewhere. Not sure where I wasn't really listening that much but at the same time they send Andy Peters all over the globe week in week out to front some silly competition that you have almost no chance of winning. So how did he get to New York this week did he row there, how did he get to Thailand two or three times a year, how about Dubai and Australia did he cycle there. No, he flew there so before having a go at others for there choice of transport how about grounding Andy Peters and putting your money where your mouth is and actually practice what you preach GMB
  7. Did anyone go to the Cini club on Barnsley Rd or do you remember it. It was one evening a week and all Cini camera enthusiast's would meet up and show there personal films some recent, some really old footage usually of family holidays and a little tech info thrown in. I bought a cini camera in 1979 and went to the club early 80s it was interesting but 8mm film was very expensive and reels only lasted about 3 minutes. Those were the days.. I still make films but for my YouTube channel and use gopro hero 11 but miss the old fashioned editing cut and throw compared to the techy editor today
  8. I'm all for people working for a living I have done all my life but 70 hours a week is exploitation in itself unless you choose to. I'm winding down after working 60 hr weeks for donkeys years and I didn't choose it. I'm working a steady 20 hrs now waiting to pack it all in around 19 months from now

  16. Dr Leddy was our Doctor in the very early 60s and he was taken over by Dr Tyson. Dr Tyson didn't live on the premises as Dr Leddy did.
  17. I was 18 and my GF was 17 and she got pulled by a plain clothes officer in the HIghway. She didn't get fined but I did and had to go to court, I got fined £15 which was nearly a weeks wage then. In the coming few years I would see the same policeman in the Crazy Daisy scouting for underage drinkers, I felt like shouting watch out everybody he's a copper.. Did you know Cathy Roddis, her parents ran it 1977
  18. Did anyone ever drink in this pub in the past and did you ever get any vibes or anything unusual, they say it's one of the most haunted pubs in Sheffield. But they say that about a few other pubs to, what's your experience in this pub. Now derelict since 2008
