  1. He is very young at 44. It doesn't go into any detail of how though signs say he was maybe depressed. I know people can suddenly die at any age but this seems very sudden a bit like Steve Wright who of course was much older.
  2. I was a peasant back then always relied on buses 😁
  3. No but there is another body hurtling into Earth which is due to crash in on us tomorrow at 19.24 and that is a man made satellite. Just watch your head if your outside at that time 21 Feb 19.24pm or you may end up in A&E 😁 or worse.
  4. I'd be surprised if at least some local resident hasn't complained but I thought it was amusing. As a cyclist that goes through Foolow now and again I've never actually noticed it. Enjoyed the video though and watched it whole and his work is very good so as I also like walking in the peaks I have sub'd him. Thanks for the link
  5. The point still remains the train is quicker than the bus. I presume the bus goes through Thrybrough and Conisborough route, not been on it personally but that road can be really busy
  6. Taking 11 years for a first reply must be a record or is there 11 years of data missing
  7. I'm presuming that is on a Sunday or when the roads are clear though I don't doubt the timing it doe seem quick in 19 minutes. I have never got the bus to Doncaster only got the train and it is very quick
  8. There is a very good rail service from Doncaster to Meadowhall and only takes 15 minutes. Adding all the traffic mayhem on the road it must take three times as long on a bus
  9. There are some really nasty individuals on this Earth and if they are bumping each other off then leave them be..
  10. I kind of get what your saying most area's mentioned are a bit rough and are not getting any better and the area of Hallam does have a nicer appeal. I live in a rough area of S5 and where I am is actually a decent spot I only have to walk around the corner and lets just say it's like Beirut. Now, regarding people that frequent the C/pool tavern actually come from further afield than Stannington and Hillsborough like me from a rough S5 and it is people like us that have kept pubs going in area's like yours for years. I do like Crosspool by the way but wouldn't like to live there, I cycle and that hill from Rivelin is pretty steep.😆
  11. I left school to work here as an apprentice toolmaker. It wasn't my choice of occupation but never the less spent 18 months there before moving on. I do remember in the toolroom they were all a lot older than me and remember a die sinker called Bert who worked there he was about 90 then. Most lived in the Woodseats and Gleadless area. It's probably after nearly 50 years that most have passed on but did you work there about that time. Bert lived in Woodseats and was an old eccentric who rarely spoke and was pretty well off. Maybe you knew him or others
  12. Great video, is it at the side of the Burngreave adventure playground. I actually knew this guy
  13. Hi, I've just spent a good while looking at that map, very interesting. Do you have a copy showing the top side of Bramber Street going over to Pyebank School by any chance..
  14. Darts and snooker is like watching paint dry however I wish the young lad well, at 16 what a great performance.
  15. Oughtibridge is a far better and nicer place to live and you would be able to rent far better property out there. The tram terminus is about 2 miles back towards Hillsborough and includes park and ride. Middlewood where the tram terminus is is a lovely place to live and would be able to rent easily for the budget you have. I think it is called Wadsley Park and it really is a nice place to live.
  16. So that means that area now has no pubs at all. The closest is The Devonshire a mile up the road which is the only pub in the whole area.
  17. It could be that Ex Pats are on the forum on a different time zone or a night shift worker. I personally only come on the forum on Tuesday and Weds which are the only two days I work as I'm semi retired. When I'm home I don't own a computer or laptop so just use social media on my phone
  18. Me and a mate was talking about schools we went to and though he didn't mention blue coat he did say he was sent to a school on Psalter Lane for being unruly. He mentioned that he was taken all over on holidays with the school. This was the 90s so not sure if the blue coats were abolished by then or even if it as the same school.
  19. As Kids there was an old Woman who lived in Pitsmoor in-fact there were two and we used to call them Pond Street Norah's as they looked very similar Looking back we were pretty cruel as kids but I only ever saw the actual Pond St Norah once.
  20. I went to Hinde House in the early 70s and I could see a bridge that crossed the Motorway from there around Blackburn way is it the same bridge. It was there in 1970
  21. I don't watch any reality TV what's so ever. I'm a celebrity is the same year in year out and there is always nobody in of note. It's full of ex Love Island and God knows what awful Woman's crap they broadcast these days. TV is geared up for Women because of the people who watch this rubbish are female mainly young. I may be old fashioned but I miss the variety shows like Des O Connor, Val Doonigan and Live at the Palladium, real entertainment shows from the by gone age. Thankfully we have Netflix and YouTube both which I watch occasionally but I also watch Sport. So the answer to your question who would I miss is nobody.
  22. All for that, in-fact Douglas Rd could be extended to Parkwood Rd North then onto Herries Rd. That would take a lot of traffic off Rutland Rd and Cookswood Rd and Shirecliffe Rd. Makes sense to me
  23. This programme wants scrapping full stop, it's well had it's day
