  1. I was typing that info as I tracked it - toon off from Cambridge and flew NE - passed directly over Eckington specifically, then up towards Halifax - I lost it at that point when I closed the app! But that's how I got the registration number etc.
  2. Red Arrows are due at Chatsworth at 1815 tomorrow.
  3. Search google for : Boeing B-17G registration G-BEDF (Flight radar app comes in handy at times!)
  4. First driver told me they don't do returns, day saver only. So if you're doing that journey regularly a monthly pass may be more beneficial. Given earlier posts you may want to look at a pass you can use on any operator, bus or tram to allow you flexibility.
  5. Great stuff! If you can't make that one, I'm also running a dementia friends session in Greenhill on the 9th Sept, at St Peter's Church (in the church hall). EDIT: a time would be useful! 7.30pm, and here is a direct web link: https://t.co/7tYoLlS8Xx I wonder how many Dementia Friends we can create in one day from these four sessions?
  6. This is good news and certainly sounds promising. I guess the bus shelter and turning circle at the Mother Redcap will now be redundant as Stagecoach don't use it - except in times of snow and ice maybe!
  7. So at Bradway do we not get an evening service if our 25 will be Stagecoach? Or will the old 53 still divert here in an evening?
  8. Beauchief Hotel The Abbey Robin Hood Cross Scythes (Totley or Scarsdale Road) Waggon and Horses Plenty of options :-) The funeral directors should be able to recommend some who they often work with too.
  9. I received this letter and completed it online straight away. No reason to believe it was anything dodgy - they already had our details, all I had to do was say 'yes this is correct'. If I had to give the details again I may have thought otherwise...
  10. Hello Does anyone have any experience of Housing & Care 21 visiting them, or a relative, at home several times a day to provide day-to-day care? Preparing meals, toileting, dressing/bathing etc. If so - what's your feedback please? Thanks
  11. Hi Daven, thanks for your note. Grandparent had several mental capacity tests - passed, failed, passed, failed - and consultant did another one just to check - and they passed! So not able to over-ride their wish to not go into rehab. Several UTIs which I know can affect capacity, also depends on how they're feeling in general (mistaken me for a different grandchild on occassions). Other days they're as a bright as a button. We did meet with the discharge nurse who explained the medically fit scenario (I understand that), but I stressed about not being safe and alone. They have arranged for home carers to make an extra visit per day, and if there is another hospital admission in the near future then this will be reassessed (there have been 5 A&E visits by ambulance in the last few months). The reassessment will be because they've put a plan into place, and they get re-admitted they need to look at it again. If they've done all they can then they're in a better position to look at over-ruling. Part of the problem is grandparent repeatedly tells home visiting physio to p*** off - not interested, doesn't want it - yet is too scared to stand up to move to commode at the side of the sofa. Carers come in to make lunch and says "put a pizza in the oven I'll sort it" - then forgets about it or can't walk to the oven in the kitchen. It's so unsafe. As for the home carers, I'm about to make another post about that after what I've found out today...
  12. Agree with all the pros. Definitely pricey! £8.50 for chips and a sausage - looked like a hot dog sausage you buy in a tin from the supermarket! Music was alright, good atmosphere. Conversation would be difficult if a big group of you. Was fairly empty this afternoon, which made it pleasant!
  13. Thanks. Hospital had arranged for the 'rehab' but since the call this morning saying may be coming home we're not sure what to think. I have suggested that we may need to request a face-to-face meeting with the consultant concerned. I genuinely fear for their safety living alone as they do.
  14. Well, where do I start? Grandparent is 84, emphysema (but does not use oxygen), much frailer than ever. Had a fall last weekend (not sure how, but we think from picking up lid from the commode off the floor and toppling backwards). Not sure how long on the floor for - an hour maybe? Carers found on floor and phoned ambulance. This was about the third ambulance call in a week - previously breathing difficulties (majority of these are panic attacks). Been in hospital since, hospital want to send to 'rehab' for intense physio, which we as a family totally agree with. Grandparent can barely stand alone, never mind walk. Just refuses to - would rather sit all day (and complain of a numb bum!) Physio in hospital very concerned as cannot walk and panics/breathing probs after a few steps, hence the need for intense physio. Grandparent has refused point blank - not going, going home. Yesterday physio said they could over-rule as failed memory test at memory clinic (which is another story), but today apparently the consultant has said fine to go home as medically fit. Home is unsafe. Simple as. Lives alone (21yr old grandson lives there but works full-time and out with his mates etc), carers 3-4 times a day. Can barely move from sofa to commode which is next to it. Cannot climb stairs alone and refuses to have bed moved into living room. House is an absolute mess, spilt drinks/food stains all over the floor as obviously unable to clean. Out of date food in the fridge. Food that should be cooled just left on the side. Family do what we can, but we can't be there all the time. Certainly some cognitive problems going on too, including going to bed at 3pm and getting up at 8pm to start the day... What do we do if hospital send Grandparent home, as Grandparent still refusing to agree to go? Disagreed, agreed, disagreed etc. Do we just wait for another fall, or another ambulance call due to anxiety attack?
  15. Indeed, and lots of monies should be re-directed into other services that are hugely underfunded.
  16. Absolutely understand that it affects working people. Child benefit is another one - should that be capped at two children? Maybe three? However, if we look at the amount of people who don't work and are claiming benefits (and I don't mean those who genuinely can't work) then there's a great saving to be made!
  17. Hello - just wanted to wave at you and say 'working class family person over here'. I grew up with working class parents, on a council estate and went to the local council estate infant & junior school. A decent secondary school covers the council estate however I CHOSE to go to Abbeydale Grange. Yep, the one deemed to be the worst in Sheffield during its time - and I chose to go there! However I studied hard, because I enjoyed school and loved learning and came away with several decent grade GCSEs (I can't even tell you what they were as they have so little relevance now). I went to college and got a part-time job in a call centre. After 8 months at college I dropped out as the call centre were offering me full time hours (and a pretty decent wage it was too - around £6 an hour back in 2001). I saved the majority of my wage as I was living at home, in a council maisonette and knew I'd be thankful in the future. So in truth, my educational background is nothing more than GCSEs. From that point on, I've worked everyday, apart from a brief unemployment spell of 3mths, where I spent most days trying to find another job. One of my siblings actually said "Just have a couple of kids, you won't need to work". To be fair, he was a single dad and did whatever he could to support his kids - if he got more money by staying on benefits than working then who could blame him? This was during the Labour years - say no more. The system shouldn't be set up this way - how can benefits pay more than minimum wage? My other sibling lost their driving licence, and ultimately their job, when they were caught drink driving. They've never worked a day since - has to 'care' for their partner. Their eldest child had her own child when she was 19, and has never worked a day because she has to 'care' for her parent. So my in-law has two full time carers (hmmmm). My sibling has a motability car and actually tells me "Ha, at least I don't have to pay for my car unlike you". Funnily enough, I didn't want my life to be like this, I didn't want to live my life on benefits, sat on my backside doing nothing, I wanted to work like I saw my dad do everyday, and be proud of what I've achieved. I now have a professional job, highly respected where I work and earn a decent salary. I've bought a house in a desirable area of the city. Who'd have thought it? I also pay into a pension to look after myself and my family in years to come. The council estate child who went to Abbeydale Grange, who given your comments, couldn't possibly do well for themselves because they're from a working class background. If you want to succeed, you will. There are more ways to succeed than just by going to university. Everyone has that opportunity, they just have to want it. Those kids who are now born into the 'benefit culture', what hope do they have? Cuts have to happen to reduce the benefit amounts paid as it's getting out of hand. 21yr old I know of who doesn't work as is 'too ill' - married recently, pregnant instantly and been given keys to a council house straight away. Not a flat or a maisonette - a house. Husband doesn't work neither. So benefit cuts, see my comments above, I'm all for it. Proper testing to ensure those who truly can't work are supported and those who could, like those above, are forced to work to earn their keep.
  18. I lived at Chancet Wood for four years. I rarely caught the bus service for two reasons: 1) it took forever to get into town (it was quicker to walk to Wagon & Horses garage and catch one of the hundred buses going down Meadowhead) 2) when they changed them to 9-5 Mon-Fri only I was at work, so wasn't able to use the service. There did seem to be a steady stream of people at the Chancet Wood terminus at certain times.
  19. Are the proposals available to view anywhere in person, other than at a drop in session? Are they pinned up to a notice board anywhere - bus station perhaps?
  20. As this is a I'm Bored thread... I thought that if you were all bored you could kill five minutes by helping me with some research Do you wear glasses? If so - please could you answer these few questions? Thank you muchly ! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/X26F2WH
  21. Please move this thread if I haven't posted in the correct place, mods - posted here as I noticed another in this section from a couple of years ago This Saturday 11th July, as part of Woodseats Festival, I will be running a Dementia Friends session. You may have heard about the Dementia Friends campaign in the media. Over one million Dementia Friends have been created across the UK and this is your opportunity to join in. Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, talks and acts about the condition. Dementia touches the lives of millions of people across the UK. Dementia Friends was launched to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding that means many people with the condition experience loneliness and social exclusion. Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help. Please do join me at 11am at Woodseats Methodist Church. Further information can be found by clicking this link: https://www.dementiafriends.org.uk/WEBSessionDetails?id=a052000000LZhv1AAD Pre-registration isn't necessary, please feel free to just turn up!
  22. Can you give me more information on the Laurel & Hardy showing please? Time/price etc? I any view the website well from my phone. Thanks.
  23. ...which is why they should issue change vouchers if they don't have the change. These are printed from the ticket machine, as quick as it takes to print a fare paid ticket.
  24. Regardless of the truth in the story, this thread has displayed some horrible attitudes from some users. There is every possibility that the OP is telling the truth and the behaviour of some users I would go as far to say is bullying. I will absolutely think twice before starting a thread on here in the future if this is the attitude I'll be receiving. My partner is in his thirties and has a student card from university - the fare is £1 on all buses in Sheffield. Maybe this is the same type of student card the OP refers to. #justsaying Regardless of the truth - a driver ordered a young girl off of a bus at 22.50, as has been reported this is not the correct procedure. Would this thread be different if something had happened to the girl? Those who ask why the OP didn't go to collect her - not everyone drives, the OP may not be at home - lots of possibilities.
