  1. I used to read every night to him, then I stopped, but im trying to get back into the routine again. Im not a big reader myself. I bought him the set "read at home" and tonight he asked if I would read him the first book. Its very very simple, made for him to be reading, so I wasnt sure it was the right choice for me to be reading to him. He was very impressed though when he picked up the word RUN. But im not sure if it was from reading or picture. Should I stick to reading longer harder "story" books? He is 4 and starts primary in September. He knows his initial being an O but we struggle as he gets mixed with Zero too. Anything with an O in the word is his! lol He watched leapfrogs letter factory the other day and was singing a is for a, a, a and b is for b b b. Which made me think that maybe I needed to learn the alphabet the phonic way and sing with him!
  2. Where do we start teaching a child to read? Does he need to know his alphabet and or in order? Im thinking that this is where I need to start. Do they memorise short words, ie Cat, Dog etc?? Any tips and pointers on how to teach the alphabet if thats where he/we should start? I bought a pack of phonic flashcards and there is certain letters missing, like C, this is making me think that this isnt as easy as I want it to be! Or should I just leave it to school to teach and just help along later?
  3. What do you want doing? One off? A group one off? or long term? My sister has just bought the big machine to do these professionally, so depending what you want, she maybe able to do this for you!

  5. There is a place near crystal peaks - or out that way that advertise on Ebay. Although I got 12v 12ah batteries which was £20. Providing its 12v then it will work, the 12ah or 17ah is how long it will last before a recharge. We have the 12ah in a peg pedro 2 seater jeep and this can last 2 hours in high speed, by which time ive had enough!!!
  6. I recently had a cat visit me alot. I took to the vets to see if chipped, no cost and was then told to bring him straight home again, they didnt keep him. It turns out the cat I found had been missing over a month and had travelled from S11 to S5. Im still hoping one day my black and white cat will return, he is chipped!
  7. It's been altered since that post was made, it did read 600 to start!
  8. I think it should read 6000.00 as the point is in the wrong place. I would have alook at site own vans as no change over fee to pay. But with a site van you will have to kit it out yourself. Buying private you may get everything included but will need to pay about 1,500 for transfer fees. Check out ground rents before too, they can vary from site to site. Best thing i would suggest is having a weekend where you want to be and go around the sites.
  9. He was from S11 and was so surprised how far he had travelled. The vet scanned him and then asked my to take him home until they contacted me. My mums cat has been missing for months now and he is chipped and hope one day he will returned. We have now widen the search as its surprised how far they can go!
  10. Highly recommend getting your pets chipped. I found a cat today and he was chipped. He has been missing for over a month and has travelled from S11 and found in S5.
  11. He/She is chipped so hopefully the owner should be with us soon!

  17. You can type your doc and do everything in landscape. I cant find a setting for changing the page to landscape. So it will print / save in potrait.
  18. I need to buy a new battery charger as old one isnt charging correctly. Whats the best sort to buy, Fast charger? ones that discharge? lcd display of charge etc?? I may need to puchase some more batteries too, which are best for our useage which are.... wii remotes (played daily, but then can be left for a week with nothing) Radio controlled cars Leapster / vtech games console the radio controlled cars are only got out once a month maybe, but I dont always know that my son will want these out. I then find the previously charged batteries are flat when wanting to use them. The leapster is a high powered machine and can drain batteries fast with the amount of use, likewise I used to have a spare set charged, but find them flat when wanting them. Hope im making sense and someone can explain the best sort to purchase!
  19. Sorry we don't do weekends in July or august. Only sat to sat. Thanks
  20. If your child does kick off, don't stress! The calmer you are the better! Once when my son screamed for about an hour, I was getting stressed as people watching me! I think I made the situation worse! We now take my sons leapster (like ds) and portable DVD player! My son the novel idea of watching his own telly with headphones on! Enjoy your holiday!
  21. The first time i tried to take my son (to watch toy story) was at meadowhall and I turned up on the day and it was fully booked. I struggled to explain to my 3 year old that we couldnt go, as I couldnt afford to pay normal cinema prices. We now go to cineworld as I have a unlimited card and I take my son on a wednesday on the orange wednesdays which gets packed solid. Im not sure if i read that cineworld had dropped its booking fee, therefore I would recommend booking before. If you are a Sky customer you can get discount cinema showings in School holidays. The movies are 3d movies, you pay £3 per adult and can take 3 children for free. The children get a goody bag with 3d glasses in. Just look on sky rewards if you are a sky customer.
  22. Ive not seen any for ages and im just off Lindsay. We are lucky if we get 1 at the moment.
  23. Butlins is £20 a night some nights for 4 people in a tourer, including electric awning etc
  24. I went years ago (over 10 years) and I didnt think it was bad. I dont remember anything sticking out to be honest. I remember seeing a "kids" buffet which was at a lower hight and thinking, wow they think of everything for the kids. I didnt have kids ( was about 18 when went) and dont remember the kids or anyone for that matter being anoying etc.. However I couldnt comment on the time i year i went as i cant remember. There is loads of pools and i do remember we didnt go near the "massive" pool and stayed near the one near the road. We used to catch the bus to the beach, which was provided by the hotel. One of the hotels, think its mars, is for older people, or thats the impression I got. I personally dont like holiday truths / trip advisor websites as the only people to review are the ones that didnt have a great time for what ever reason. How many thousands of people go and dont have a complaint etc... I remember last year reading those websites for the holiday village in turkey, which also had big news on the tv at some point. Comments like dont waste money, dont go, hell etc etc. We had the most fantastic time and wouldnt think twice about returning!
