Been looking into pistol crossbows as a defensive piece of kit - an 80lb one can cost you as little as 35 quid.

Yes, and they are ridiculously accurate too. Even I can hit the target. The bolts for them a very cheap too. Even the aluminium shaft bolts are very cheap if bought in bulk.

Obviously there will be exceptions. The general rule of thumb in the prepper community though is to not disclose what supplies you have. Good on you for helping others out, but in the event of some grid down scenario that lasts weeks where all the shops are empty, then your house is likely to  be the first port of call for many. Once people are going hungry and you only have a couple of weeks worth of food for your own family, then things would likely get nasty. What's that saying, something like 'humanity is only six meals away from anarchy' or something...

Yes, I agree and with that in mind we don't keep everything in the at home store room. Like the cash the bulk of our goods are kept secure only a short walk from home.

For sport and relaxation we shoot our crossbows. Hunting crossbows with 175lb draw weight would bring down almost anything with a well placed bolt. Pistol crossbows with approx 80lb draw weight are surprisingly damaging too.

They are strictly for enjoyment and fun but obviously should the brown stuff hit the swirly thing in a big way their use could be 'expanded'.

They wouldn't tell you if they were. Most preppers keep their cards close to their chests. If you publicly announce how well stocked up you are and show off about it, then where do you think your neighbours and friends will head first once trouble hits and there are shortages of food, water and essentials?

Not so at least not the people I know. We prepare whilst others don't yet during lockdowns I along with several others gave away food and essentials to the needy. Mainly the oldies but we rallied around a few families, single parents etc. Some of us are still doing this now what with the cost of everything rising so much.

The closest we've come recently was the Covid pandemic, when it was actually not easy to get hold of everyday essentials.  I didn't hear any stories of preppers being sat warm and happy.

For alot of the American's that do it, they seem more concerned with amassing a personal arsenal than actually preparing for the end of days.

It would seem their plan is have enough guns and ammo to worry about things like food later.

    My bold

Yeah but we were though. You must have missed all the times I pointed this out.

I was going to mention you . 😃 By the way, how many power cuts have you had ?

Last year, 6 iirc thankfully none so far this year but now I've said that I sure we'll get a couple in the coming days 😬

  6. Been preparing since just before convid.

We have a store room at home with tins, jars and dried goods, gas, small stoves and heaters and other items including medical supplies, generator on the garden and easy access to a few thousand in cash which I keep in the office a short walk from here.  Started stocking up for the inevitable price hikes and its served us well and still does. The generator has been used during the multiple power cuts we've had.

The family thought I was bonkers but I don't care. We are well stocked up and in theory could live without leaving the house for several months 👍

The Met have disgraced themselves again today by attacking a Saint George parade!

    Are you really surprised?

Some of the footage I watched live streamed showed the police provoking, assaulting and bullying ordinary people. On guy trying to get his screaming daughter away from she trouble was assaulted, an older lady was pushed over then the coppers used a police horse to bully some more.

Absolutely disgusting but absolutely predictable behaviour from the met.

    My bold.

    Where?

Axe said "it looks like" not "he will be" voting tory.

It's people like you and your mates who make this place so depressingly dull sometimes. Always trying to score points and attempt to make other posters look daft.

    Just grow up.

Just seen idiots at it again, one each way after a pause so possibly the same one!

Must have been doing 50 at least, someone must know who they they are, have a word before they kill someone.

Had them racing along our road today, yesterday and Friday.

    Getting absolutely sick of it.
