Just curious to find out if anyone worked for them like I did as a young apprentice painter and decorator in early /mid 80.s. Some of the names that stay in my mind were, Glen, Wurzel both decorators, Keith who was some kind of manager he lived in Barnsley, also remember a ginger bearded guy who worked in the yard driving the diggers used to shout alot which was scary me being a young un. Always remember these guys sending me down to shadow to the 2steps chippy and Roneys for pork sarnies good memories. Still have the commemorative ceramic tankard with old mr Bradbury on it. I think they went bust eventually but not sure.

Me and the wife went in on opening night at the yardarm last Weds, had some snacks and tapas which was very nice. Would recommend the cocktails very bo0zzzy

I remember seeing the same group of teds on the number 71 prince of Wales bus when I was a teenager around late 70,s possibly early 80,s they always get off at the bus stop opposite the Broughton pub that was on the corner of Broughton lane. Wonder if anyone on here was one of them or remembers this gang.

Thanks Stanley for the answer to my question. My memory of Ted was that he was a gentle polite man, I know his wife died well before he did. Always remember him taking me fishing in his 3 wheeler reliant robin and being squashed in the boot - god forbid if someone crashed into the back of us I would have been a goner having only fibreglass giving me any protection.

I wonder if thats the same Ted Wainwright who was a great friend of my grandad Bill "sonny" Windle, we used to go fishing with him and if its the same guy he retired to a caravan in Lincolnshire. Also had a daughter called Christine. Does he sound familiar.
