  1. Christ, that's awful. Cue Rishi Sunak not relating those comments to what he said about cracking down on hate and wanting MPs to be safe, the absolute snake.
  2. I had one at Wicker Pharmacy not long ago, just walked in and they did it there and then, it was a good service.
  3. Very handy if you've got a taste for whisky.
  4. Oh yeah, that's another. Quite challenging when you first drink it, especially the unadulterated version with no jasmine or lemon or mint or what have you. Now I drink gallons of it.
  5. He's, er... quite the fellow. Probably have to wait until he's dead before people share all their experiences of him.
  6. Are there things that you tried and didn't really like but persevered for whatever reason and now really like? I didn't used to like whisky but could tell there were aspects of the flavours that I could get on board with, and was aware that there's huge variety in how different whiskies taste, so tried a few. Now I like it a bit too much if anything 😬 Yellow bean paste, used in Chinese cooking, is another one. A really strong taste and you can tell it's been fermented, it has that slightly gassy taste to it. I wasn't sure to start with but I'd bought a whole jar, and now I really like it, especially if you put something a bit sweet in the source as well.
  7. In defence of the charges on plastic bags, as someone who does regular litter picking the number of plastic bags I pick up has massively reduced. Goes to show how unpredictable people can be - they'll waste money on any old crap (like vapes) but balk at spending 10p on a bag. Now I pick up loads of used disposable vapes instead.
  8. It's like if you've got a ticket for a film or summat that's a QR code and their code reader isn't working - bought my ticket mate and that means I can watch this film, not jumping through hoops because your tech isn't working, in I go.
  9. Haha. It really is a 'them' issue though, not a 'me' issue. I'm not sorting out their issues for them. It's different to showing your train ticket because the law requires you to show your ticket, whereas the burden of proof of theft from a shop is on the shop. Fuggem.
  10. Personally, if I've kept my part of the bargain (i.e. I've paid for all my shopping), I'm not going to stop so they can go through my bags. 'No, sorry mate' and out the door. There's nothing they can do about it because I've done nothing wrong.
  11. No, you're confused between Rochdale and Rotherham. I know they're both sh*tholes that start with Ro but they're 50 miles apart and in different counties, it's not that hard.
  12. That was for domestic generators, this sounds bigger scale so probably wouldn't have been the same tariff
  13. Exactly. I earn a good amount and was £50 a month better off in February, will be about £100 a month better off after this (or would be if I wasn't giving it away) - but I don't need it.
  14. I think the Tories are losing the debate on low tax. People appreciate being able to pay their bills but they realise it doesn't get you a personal physician or your own police officer. And if your landlord thinks you've got more money in your pocket they might well just put your rent up.
  15. Yeah it's a fair point. I noticed an article recently where graffiti saying something like Judaism Is Not Zionism was described as anti-Semitic.
  16. But very limited evidence of actual fraud.
  17. Donning my tin foil hat for a moment, is there much interest among the ruling class for financial education among the wider population, when debt serves useful political purposes in keeping people in their place? Some Republican senator made very telling remarks not long ago about the importance of student loan debt in funneling people into the armed forces. I know that's America but their politicians are pretty much on the same page as ours, right?
  18. I was at a meeting where Peter Price spoke about ten years ago and he seemed way out of his depth then, I can't imagine it's got any better in the meantime.
  19. This is a thread about Rochdale. And George Galloway / the British Workers Party, supposedly.
  20. As I posted in that thread, the independent report found the failure to act was due to a combination of incredibly poor safeguarding processes and the police believing the girls were somehow choosing to be abused, no evidence of people not doing anything due to fear of being called racist. But you can check in that thread if you want, let's not derail this one into yet another thread about CSE.
  21. Yeah, the article says it's been closed since February and part of the ceiling fell in, revealing asbestos. Therefore, a very odd thing for @cuttsie to say.
  22. I don't think that's strictly true - there's Carver Street, which is a magnet for people looking for trouble after too many drinks, but other than that yeah, it's fine.
