Let's Replace The Lido At Millhouses Park
CS22 replied to Anna B's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Hi Anna, I am old enough too, along with this and rivelin and the pool at Longley Park, there were a number of places to swim and splash about. I am sure a replacement could be viable, but it needs to work commercially, so maybe an entry fee, or provide great food and beverage to make it pay. Remote security has improved a great deal since the 80's, so hopefully people wont spoil it. What is needed is the drive to make it happen (are you starting a campaign?). I was chatting with a chum about Redmires Reservoir the other day, not council owned, but a food venue there over looking the reservoir would be great (maybe I will start a campaign). -

Joe Biden The New President Thoughts So Far?

Different countries are at different stages of development and have different tax needs, so not sure an international rate works. However tax should be more closely tied to where profits are generated, a sales based tax, rather than reported profit could be the way to achieve this. -
Firstly what a totally dominant and fantastic performance, 5 awesome goals. Full of confidence another win on the cards.

Hi Busdriver1, your views are welcome, so please don't self censor, only through open debate do we make progress.

Hi Prettytom an amnesty sounds like a good idea, we must maintain a safe environment for everyone but we don't want to stop debate. Passion, opinions a desire to make Sheffield a better place for everyone is our ambition as owners of SF. The more people, the more passion and debate must be a positive. I will discuss this idea with my colleagues and let you know.

The Battle For Survival Predictions. Have A Go!
CS22 replied to Hotmale 1954's topic in Sheffield Football
I love the optimism, of some of the contributors, and have a gut feeling we have enough to scrape out of the bottom 3. DM has got the team more organised and more difficult to beat. Fingers crossed. -
Sorry it's later than that.

Hi Dutch, it was me on the radio, I would love to hear any suggestions on how we make SF better. Dutch, we welcome your opinions

The demise of JL was inevitable, the impact of Meadowhall over many years, changes to shopping habits and Covid. But Sheffield wont be the last city to lose more large retailers and planners all over the country will have to re-think town centres. I think the JL building has some mid century charm and with the right investment could be re-used in many different ways (no more student flats though, please). I visited Soho House at the old ITV centre in London and a version of that on the top floor would be great, some 5 star hotel/apartment accommodation I am sure would get used and then split the store in half on two floors for other retailers. I am sure some architects or designers will have better ideas than me, I just hope SCC embrace them and don't waste money on some Manchester or London based consultants..

Five Ways To Sharpen Your Critical Thinking

A very useful guide, more information and advice on how to use social media is certainly needed. Thanks -
The programme was advertised as being focused on his relationship with Ireland. Terribly sad to see the affects of dementia, but a great insight into the man.

Can We/Should We Support The Unemployed In Sheffield
CS22 replied to CS22's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I wasn't expecting central or local government assistance, I think Sheffield people will support it. I have seen a number of posts in various places offering help for kids meals in the school holidays. I think people really want to help, so I don't think funding is the issue. My other questions around people and projects I see as more challenging.
