  1. I used to work in a pub on the Strand in London and a homeless man used to sleep outside. We used to give him all our left over sandwiches, but the Landlord wouldn't and used to give him a load of abuse.

The tramp worked out when he was on earlies and always used to leave him a little 'present' on the door step.

    So they do sometimes..................

do sometimes what?

  2. To cut a long story short I had a go at some bloke abusing the toddler bays at Morrisons the other day.It was very busy and we spotted this space, but on closer inspection it was reserved for people with small children.I backed out and within seconds a middle-aged man raced into the space who had no child.I noticed someone else waiting who DID have a child.I wound my window down and pointed out he shouldn't be using it.He told me to "F**k off you black b****rd".I actually laughed at first but later got really angry about it.A completely pointless use of words. Some people when they want to insult you just latch on to the easiest thing which is different about you.Whether you're black, white, slim or obese.Anyone else with similar experience?

ps. anyway I'm not black, i'm a chocolatey brown sort of colour.:loopy:

could be worse......you could have ginger hair......as for the "black" bit i wouldn't find this offensive at all....but the "*******" bit is slightly offensive so i think a quick head butt on the bridge of the nose would have been my course of action.if someone called me whitey thats what i am so its no big deal.

  3. right ive banged on about this for years and now we can do summat about it.

There is a chance the public can make St Georges Day a public holiday (after this year) and it couldn't be easier to do.

Click on the link below to vote, the site needs at least 1 million votes for the government to take it seriously and give us another bank holiday and I know you are up for that!

  4. and just to add..those Forummers who were here when i first started and aint any more.

I miss RubyDazzler (luckily I can pop in and see her down the road in her open all hours place).

Miniminch - we never did finish that discussion about my daughters History syllabus...offer's still there Mr Minch.

I miss Kirky's uncompromising humour too. So uncompromising that we don't see him any more due to his frequent 'enforced retirements'.

No doubt others will come to mind as my Alzheimers Moment wears off...

you know where i can be found,i'm only a click away:) i hear your joining us tomorrow for a drink (thur 23rd) be nice to see ya:)

  5. actually i've found my own replacement who can be there before the event starts, which i thought was usual practice for a dj.

the replacement may well be very good, but a time frame of 7.20 - 8 for a party starting @ 7.30 wasn't suitable.

personally a replacment shouldnt have been needed. when the booking was taken the date was satisfactory - any other business for that date should have been declined(if that is the reason for cancelling).

i'm still waiting for a contract (wot a laugh).

i'm just trying to workout why you seem to be having a pop about this on my thread........the only time we've ever spoke before is when you quoted 45 quid for something i got done for 18........but as they say thats another story:rolleyes:

  6. Does anyone else feel trapped in the vicious experience cycle? I'm looking for my first full-time job at the moment, and while I've found jobs I think I could do, they all require applicants to have a certain amount of experience, which you can only get if you can get the jobs.

I have some experience of various types of work (secretary and social secretary of a working committee for nearly two years, six week placement in the civil service last summer and working in a sandwich shop for two months the summer before, saturday job in a kitchen for two years, as well as a few random bits and pieces), but while I've been at uni I've tried to concentrate on my degree, and as a result don't feel qualified for a lot of jobs. I'd be willing to put in as much time and effort as possible to learn how to do the job I was hired for, but that doesn't seem to be what employers want.

offer to work a months trial and let the potential employer just cover your expenses....if you are no good he hasn't lost owt and if you are good both parties are happy.

  7. well i'll hint more than explain.

lets just say that a dj whether he's good or not still doesn't stop them dropping you in the ****e at the last minute.even after booking & confiming 8 weeks in advance.

the bad experiences i refer to are connected to people on this forum.

i was lead to belive the person in question got you a replacement that lives right on the door step of the venue.......is it he that as let you down?

  8. You may know it better as hair metal - spandex, big hair, silk scarfs - posion, motley crue etc etc - it was massive in sheffield in the mid/late 80s where Roxys would pull in 2000 people on a monday night to its monthly rock night.

    Lets Rock!

ah right got ya,i got slightly confused as ive always assosiated "glam" with the 70's
