Looking for Downing relatives
TimeBandit52 replied to TimeBandit52's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
Hi Moirahyde. John was my father and did indeed live with the Bellamys on Abbydale rd. Mable and Joe retired to Casleton. And I have found and visited there grave. I have searched for Thomas grave and found it to be in Burngreave cemetry ,i got the grave number and area but as no marker was on it I couldn't find it. Many questions about him. Died in 1917 but what of, why was he not involved with the war, or was he? I think he died in a workhouse and is in a porpers gave. Any more info is appreciated. David. -
Thomas-Ralph-John (Jack)- Mable- and May Downing. Born around 1910 to 20 around the gower street area of Sheffield. Any info appreciated or better still a lost relative.

Anyone know anything about Wardsend Cemetery?
TimeBandit52 replied to tango2's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
I think an American Indian called Paul Engel Star was buried there after an infection in a broken leg ,caused by a horse fall whilst performing for Buffalo Bills Circus at Hillsborough. He was re interned on a n Indian resavation burial ground a hundred or so years later. This was about 10 /15 years ago. -
I think Caramac lived over the wall from Carfield Schools playground as we often used to talk to him at break time .

Good job you didn't drive around, you would need two new springs and running gear not to mention a fine from the local council for driving somewhere you shouldn't . -

He certainly had an older brother but I thought his name was Tony (could be wrong he was a different generation/gang to us).
