  1. Ooh yes please! Sheffield is crying out for somewhere like this! Answers below What is your preferred type of music? Classic indie / rock, e.g. The jam, stone roses, Acdc, the police, and decent 80s 90s tunes e.g. R.e.m, oasis etc What's the best club you ever went to? Current and in the past, Was is it in Sheffield? I was a big fan of the casbah though it wasn't perfect. Trippets was good on live band nights What was / is special about it? The music, and the attitude I.e. Rarely any trouble What would be the chief attractions? Got to be good music, please not another awful naff 80s bar, definitely need a cloakroom (I avoid bars without cloakrooms in winter - don't want to hang a heavy coat over my arm all night), decent toilets, perhaps a chill out / quieter area, smoking area, friendly bouncers, no long queues to get in or at the bar, decent music, no daft cocktails (cause big hold ups at the bar), live bands at weekends What would be the chief obstacle to you attending a dance night? Lack of all the above, rubbish r&b music What would be the price for a ticket that you would pay? £10 if a band playing £5 if not and like the last poster, a decent amount at the bar!
  2. Please tell us where your cafe will be! My daughter would eat any adult meal in a smaller portion. Particular favourites are: Pasta (ideally with grated cheese on the side so she can sprinkle it herself) Snack plate - i.e. with breadsticks, raw veg, cheese, ham etc Fishcake and salad Pizza - with a choice of fresh toppings Pork pie and salad Any pie with mash, e.g. cottage, fish etc Good luck!
  3. Where JP got stuck was Higgar Tor, not stanage - next to the Rasp from the look of it The picnic was indeed Padley Always nice to location spot!
  4. We use Spice Hut on Middlewood Road - in fact we had a takeaway from there last night! Is just north of Hillsborough (s6) so the most northerly suggestion so far The chef's specials are particularly nice - garlic tikka bahar is really nice. Delivery 30-40 minutes mid week
  5. Hi There We often take my 98 year old grandmother-in-law to Loch Fyne by the Hallamshire - it was wheelchair access and is quiet - no background music or crowds. She always has the soup there, which is lovely. She is pretty deaf but as it is quiet, it suits her no problem. The only slight issue is getting her out of the car up the small and slightly steep hill to the front entrance, so we sometimes take the wheelchair with us. Cafes are difficult as they are generally small and noisy, but there is one in the antiques centre at Wentworth if you wanted to go there - is definitely quieter than the garden centre, though you'd need to call and ask about wheelchair access. I'd be interested to know where you go!
  6. Thanks, having lost the family camera with loads of special photos on it, that's just the kind of response I needed Mind you, it did bump the thread
  7. Hi Forummers I lost a camera at Dale Dyke reservoir on Sunday the 7th October - if anyone has found it / heard of it, could you please let me know? Thank you so much
  8. Hi, I am looking for a babysitter for my 14 month old daughter, We are in S35 and need someone 18 years+ who has experience of kids. She goes to bed very well at 7pm and wakes up only one night every other month (e.g. if she has a cough) so very unlikely that any actual care would be needed but we would like someone experienced just in case. Would be occasional evenings and would pay £5 per hour. Anyone interested? Thanks
  9. Hi There I went in late September and was generally pleased - a good menu selection, nice service, lovely wine list and good atmosphere It was good value for the money and standard, one or two elements not quite right (slightly underdone fondant potato) but given that what you get for the money is far more than others (e.g. rafters) we were on the whole impressed, For the level of restaurant and the price, I would go again Hope this helps! N
  10. I'd second Crawshaws - brilliant! At Hillsbro' barracks or in stocksbridge. Always friendly and great quality produce
  11. Definitely the Wortley arms in Wortley village - great local beers and very nice food! The Blue Ball also has nice ales if you want something a bus ride away
  12. Try Kaleidoscope on Middlewood road - I have Chloe but the other stylists are also good
  13. I would have thought disturbing the peace / noise abatement etc would be one of the laws broken - for the music to be heard clearly in a house with shut windows and thick walls over a mile and a half away, it's got to be above the legal decibel limit! Plus, as has been mentioned, trespass, drinking in a public place etc. I'm all for outdoor parties if they are not within sound range of any domestic property - that isn't a nimby attitude, just one that takes account of the effect on people disturbed by the noise
  14. The problem dnbraver1 is not whether it's 80s or not, it is, as you say in your post illegal. To be kept awake all Sat early morning by an illegal party is a problem for all disturbed by it, plus the likely litter and destruction left at the location afterwards. Why not have the party inside or at a legally arranged venue? If it's just like going to a normal club, then why not go to a normal club instead?
  15. Ha ha! My terminology - showing my age I'm afraid!
