  1. I have a friend who works for BT and he says that information is passed in relatively small packets so data will flow without any major issues UK wide. The problems come with large data files like streaming media, so vpn bandwidth can and will be monitored.
  2. Talking to friend who helps companies get online with a website and online marketing it seems there are loads of different types of websites built using different computer languages. What do you want the website to do, was the first thing I was asked. Send a message via www.seorch.uk
  3. Should supermarkets be made to hand over CCTV footage of people who are stockpiling to the authorities?
  4. A new message from the Sainsbury's Chief Executive Mike Coupe,
  5. The manufacturers association, Make UK, says that it would be possible for some specialist engineers to scale up production under licence. Craig Thompson, Penlon, said the idea was unrealistic. His firm makes 750 machines a year and could double production, given time. In the short term he could provide the NHS with up to 200 more machines. "The manufacture of medical devices, such as ventilators, is highly regulated," Skip Twitter post by @MattHancock 5,394 people are talking about this
  6. As it says in the email I posted here yesterday. You will be contacted .
  7. Is anyone making parts for ventilators in Sheffield? NHS chief Sir Simon Stevens has admitted there are only 8,175 ventilators available out of the 30,000 that medical planners fear will be needed. If the imminent surge in cases happens too soon, there will not be enough to keep patients alive – meaning agonising decisions about which patients are not given them. Coventry based Meggitt – which produces oxygen mask systems for aircraft – is spearheading the aerospace consortium. The UK team at Nissan is heading the automotive group, and McLaren is running the motor sports consortium. The three groups have each been given until next week to produce a prototype but many of the key components they use are made in China or elsewhere in the Far East. Boris Johnson wants to harness the skills of British industry and has asked 60 engineering companies if they can adapt their production lines to make the vital parts in the UK instead of relying on imports. Britain's world-leading motor-racing industry could be a major asset in the scramble to build thousands of new ventilators. There is also a huge supply chain of highly skilled engineering companies. In a conference call on Monday night, he urged them to find ways to make 30,000 new ventilators in just two weeks. The UK's only specialist maker of ventilators for intensive care units, Breas, in Stratford-uponAvon, has increased capacity and moved to seven-day working. The manufacturers association, Make UK, says it would be possible for some specialist engineers to switch to making medical items including Ford, Honda, Unipart, JCB and Rolls-Royce. Peter Worrallo, managing director of Penlon, one of the UK firms making ventilators ‘We are a British company and we want to help.' I am sure that Sheffield engineering companies can build some components or parts that are mass produced in China.
  8. I think since the rogue trader episode, where a builder had lots of satisfied customer reviews but left customers with gaping holes, people are more wary of accepting reviews as truthful on these sites. The idea is good but wolves will dress as sheep. These directories need to police the advertisers better for them to gain confidence and survive.
  9. You can elect to do an online shop and pick it up. You could send a friend or a taxi to do this for you if you are self-isolating and leave it outside your door. Saying that, slots are again at least 2 weeks away for click and collect. Pretty dire planning from the supermarkets, hope they wake up soon. Just added this from Sainsbury's Director A number of you suggested that we reserve an hour in stores for elderly and vulnerable customers. In response to this request, we will set aside the first hour in every supermarket this Thursday 19th March, for elderly and vulnerable customers. I hope that you can respect this decision and will work with us as we try our best to help those that need it the most. If you or an elderly family member, friend or neighbour would like to shop during this hour, please check online for your local supermarket opening hours. We will also help elderly and vulnerable customers access food online. From Monday 23rd March, our online customers who are over 70 years of age or have a disability will have priority access to online delivery slots. We will contact these customers in the coming days with more details. For any online customer who can travel to our stores, from Monday 23rd March, we will operate an expanded 'click and collect' service. We are significantly increasing the number of collection sites across the country over the coming days in preparation for this. Customers can place their order online as usual and pick it up from a collection point in the store car park. We believe this will also work for people who are self-isolating. As we work to feed the nation, we are also focusing all of our efforts on getting as much food and other essential items from our suppliers, into our warehouses and onto shelves as we possibly can. We still have enough food for everyone - if we all just buy what we need for us and our families. To help us get more essential items onto the shelves, from this Thursday 19th March, we will be closing our cafes and our meat, fish and pizza counters in supermarkets. This means we can free up warehouse and lorry capacity for products that customers really need. It will also free up time for our store colleagues to focus on keeping the shelves as well stocked as possible.
  10. There doesn't appear to be much confidence in the local council's ability to make this a reality. Were any of them on-board during the Supertram network building as that looks like a success to me.
  11. I reckon this brave fella will not be going out again in a hurry after coming across a van driver who blocked the pavement and then punched him after asking the van driver to move. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-51801370
  12. We have moved into a house with some renovation required and the first things was the roof which was quickly and professionally repaired by Dalton's roof services.
  13. If you are having a street party then you can put cones and a road closed sign up providing you tell the council and fire department of the location, date and time at least 2 weeks in advance. https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/home/business/licences-permits-registrations/street-party-licences.html
  14. Thank you to all those that volunteer their time to looking after their areas. Switched on people that know if you don't put anything in you can't expect anything out.
