Fine, but what fundamentally is the difference other than viewing angle? How is looking down at your front door at 45 degrees any different in terms of privacy than looking across at it? With the top down views everyone can see into your back garden (one area where people often to consider 'private') with the street view people will only be able to see the front of house, which is on public display anyway?! Companies have been doing this for years for local authorities (CycloMedia for example), just because google can afford to do it globally, why all the panic?

The birds eye view are oblique photos and look at a 45 degree angle, take a quick look if you're feeling smart (Birds have to look where they're going to you know!) They clearly show doorways and windows, much the same as the google app will. Anyone can have a look at your doorway if they want, especially if it faces a road.

Nobody seems to worry about Microsoft's Live Maps 'Bird's Eye View' function, and this does esentially the same thing!
