  1. I was at Bents Green Open Air School - that's what it was called then, around 1953/54. It was Residential, at that time, for children with health problems. I was in the Children's Hospital, Sheffield, a number of times, with a collapsed lung. Many children had chest and breathing problems because of the Industry and poor air quality in some areas. The only teacher I remember, is Mr Bond. We had to go for walks, frequently, and to church on Sunday...wearing the navy blue macs.
  2. I remember Peter and Celia Garrett used to belong to Reform Chapel.......possibly after The Methodist chpel closed.
  3. Yes, Francis belonged to the Methodist Church for a good many years. I wasn't sure if the first post about the boys club, meant the one at the Methodist Church, or not. His Dad Johnny had pigeons across the road. The youth club did have girls as well. I was on the committee, as was Francis.
  4. Wasn't the Boys Club at the Methodist church, and run by Francis? ...if so, they were both going on at the same period of time....the youth club, and the boys club.
  5. Also Jean Howson, Laurel Smelt, Valerie Beech, John Gilbert, Norma Baxter....
  6. Yes, they did. The Morley's lived at No 27. My mother was one of the Morley's. Don went to live on Southey Green Road. Michael went to live at Southey as well.
  7. Just came across this .....but no posts here since 2017..... My Uncle Edward Howson - Ted -was a Master Silversmith, and was Export Manager at Viners. He died some years ago. I think another uncle, on my mother'side...Michael Morley, also worked there.
  8. And the Burton/Morley's.......27 Bramber Street.
  9. Grimesthorpe Road Methodist Church closed about 1971. I went to the final service there. I was married there in 1967, and my son was christened there in late 1968. The final service was in1971, I think, which I went to......my son was about 3 then. I had been a Sunday School teacher there, and Sunday School Queen.
  10. There's two programmes on TV ...Hochanda channel 85 and the other is Create and Craft on 23. Lots of ideas. These are selling their stuff, but you can just get the ideas, and buy your materials where you like. I think there might be others as well. These programmes are on all day, everyday.
  11. When I was SS Queen, my attendant was a young boy called Philip, who lived somewhere near where you said you lived....I wonder if that was your brother? He carried the cushion with my "crown" on. He did live on the prefabs, near the bottom.
  12. Does anyone remember Brian and Graham Cross?
