  4. Under The Stars are pleased to announce a free 22 week DJ course teaching all the essential skills for aspiring DJs and including the opportunity to DJ at their disability friendly nightclub. Under The Stars is runs events at The Hubs in Sheffield and several music workshops that have created bands, DJs and music producers. Under The Stars has received help and support from Toddla T, Jarvis Cocker, Martyn Ware (Heaven 17), Mark Herbert and Shane Meadows (Warp Films), Peter and Paul and many more. The latest project from Under The Stars is a 22 week DJ course that is completely free to attend. The course will develop technical DJ skills, teach about music selection, how to play to audiences, how to record and promote a mix tape and signpost future opportunities for aspiring DJs. We’re looking for fans of house, DnB, bassline, dubstep, techno, jungle, hardcore and all other electronic music. Do you want to learn how to DJ professionally? The course is free but only available to certain people. You must be;- - Over 19 years old - Unemployed or receiving Disability Living Allowance If you get paid money for working 8 hours or more each week or you go to college for more than 8 hours each week then you cannot attend this course. The course takes place every Tuesday at The Burton Street Foundation (57 Burton Street, Hillsborough, Sheffield, S6 2HH) from 10am until 3pm.   6. TRIBE OF XANADU PRESENT NYE @ YELLOW ARCH STUDIOS New Year’s Eve at Yellow Arch Studios is back! Presenting an extravaganza of music, art and entertainment. Live bands, internationally acclaimed reggae artists and amazing DJs will be complimented by spectacular décor in this famous Sheffield recording studio. Tribe of Xanadu are now festival veterans and have spent the last 4 years running tents and areas at Y-Not Festival, Eden, ****-Rock and many more. We will bring a truly experiential element to your NYE fun with fantastic music and a fully transformed venue. YT is one of the hottest reggae artists to emerge from the UK. He now tours the globe constantly and is part of the UK reggae revolution with tracks like ‘Wicked Act’ and ‘England Story’ receiving extensive airplay around the world. Daddy Freddy is a true living legend. Born in Trenchtown he rose to prominence in Jamaica before settling in the UK during the late 80s. He has broke the Guinness World Record for speed rapping on five occasions and toured the world with recent performances as far afield as Mexico, Japan and China. Peppery (fka Bongo Chilli) is a Sheffield favourite. Also a Jamaican expat he settled in the UK over a decade ago and has risen to become one of the top talents in the country. Peppery brings his good friend City Culture, a sweet and soulful reggae singer with decades of experience. Selecting for these fantastic vocalists will be Zion Train frontman Dub Dadda. Dub Dadda is a gifted vocalist himself and has released several solo dub LPs. Rumour has it that he will be bringing a very special extra guest with him on the night. K.O.G. is one of the more interesting and gifted musicians to come from Sheffield in many years. Fusing the sounds of his native Ghana with UK urban genres like grime and hip-hop, this will be one of the first performances from Kweku with his new full backing band named K.O.G. and the Zongo Brigade, playing tracks from his brand new LP. Our second band in the main room are The Unscene, featuring a combination of well established Sheffield musicians and new, young talent. They are a hotly tipped new band playing a combination or funk, reggae and soul. Room 2 will feature DJs from some legendary Sheffield promotions. The JuJu Club was first established over 25 years ago and was responsible for bringing a huge range of international artists to Sheffield including some massive acts like Desmond Dekker and Toots & The Maytals last year. Head honcho and local legend Papa Al will represent The JuJu Club. Thirsty Ear is a Sheffield-based DJ collective putting on eclectic nights that join the dots between funk, soul, reggae, afro/latin, hip-hop, beats, bangers and anything else that tickles are fancy.   7. Firstly, BoyFriday is exactly right. "goat" curry is normally made with mutton so in this instance goat may actually refer to mutton. Secondly. Its the flavour from the bones that give this dish its amazing flavour. They're big and your not expected to eat them but their marrow is an essential ingredient.

  12. We we're reluctant to admit it before Megson left but the truth is that Wednesday's game did include a lot of long balls. Jones took a big risk today by trying a big change of strategy with a team that had been playing very differently for a long time and it seems that the risk paid off. Will this be known as the day that hoofball died? (unless maybe United adopt it like they did in the derby)
