  1. The Police can, and apparently have, demanded the phone of rape victims. I am not sure why you are arguing. Failure to comply with this can, and apparently has, caused cases to be dropped. Sometimes this is necessary, mostly it is not. I worry that this will make rape victims, who are often reluctant to report crimes, even more reluctant.
  2. Is the charity reporting these women if they claim whilst working? It will get them sanctioned. Universal Credit has been appalling for many many people.
  3. Perhaps isn't a suggestion for an urgent law lol. You silly goose
  4. I didn't suggest any law. Don't be so rude. I know you are a fellow cyclist and sought your opinion. I asked you where you would draw the line. You attempts at a strawman are quite frankly disgusting. My suggestion was a perhaps, intended to open dialogue. You have strawmanned two people 8n quick succession. Abhorrent behaviour.
  5. Lol strawman. Ha ha ha that's ridiculous lol. Has the sun got to your head today? No one said anything about an "urgent" need for a law lol. The discussion was about kids and roads and where you would draw the line. I also didn't say anything about making anything illegal. Another strawman. How can you act in this kind of manner? How very odd and incredibly disingenuous and naughty. Why did you go on to lecture me about not licensing road use? And who is the "we" that you are speaking for? This conversation has taken a very strange turn
  6. It is legal for it to happen though isn't it? You say the current laws are fine. Saying that no four year old has ever ridden on an A road is a very strong claim, one I don't think you can back. I used to ride my bike to McDonald's with my parents and it included about 40 metres of an A road (the McDonald's was situated on it). I moved to this house at age 6, so was only slightly older then 4. So, to appease your pedantry, should 6 year olds be able to ride on A roads?
  7. What silly response. Just because legislation doesn't currently exist, do you think that means it should never exist? Lol. Ha he ha. Wow.
  8. Deflecting from the point, you failed completely to grasp the complexity of the situation. May has convened emergency meeting, why not message her and tell her there is no issue lol
  9. Apparently it is British owned. (Reuters) - Stena Bulk, the British operator of a tanker seized by Iran, has made a formal request to visit the 23 crew members of the Stena Impero and is awaiting a formal response, it said on Sunday.
  10. Where would you draw the line? Would you think it ok for a 4 year old to ride down an A road during peak traffic? I think that there perhaps should be an minimum age for riding on the road, before which they can ride on the pavement at a reduced speed.
  11. Hmm I didn't say it was mine did I? Ours, in this context meant the country. According to the foreign Secretary(at the time of the post), two ships were seized. One was released later, but it was still seized. Do you know anything more? You are right that only one ship was flagged as ours, the other one being operated by the UK. However, you made the initial mistake about plural ships under our flag, I didn't see the need to correct as it didn't really change the point in question. The flag flying is important. The flag is supposed to protect the vessel, this is gesture politics. You have spectacularly failed to view this in context. Iran demanded that we release their ship and warned of consequences. We ignored them and they seized two ships with links to the UK. This is the consequence they warned of. It is fine that you failed to understand the importance of their actions, but some of us didn't and we are discussing it. Iran are displaying their strength, very deliberately.
  12. "There is no subtext." Ok then It is entirely coincidence that after we grabbed one of their tankers, they grabbed two of ours. It is not an escalation of the current tense relationships between the UK and Iran. I think you have missed the (not so) subtleties of the situation my friend.
  13. If you don't understand the subtext of this then that's on you. The rest of us do and are discussing it.
  14. About 3 or 4 years ago I was outside simmonites in town and an elderly lady (70 plus I would say), removed from her handbag a splif that Mr. Marley himself would have been proud of (a king L for those in the know). Put it to her lips, lit it and walked down the road smoking it like it was the most normal thing in the world. On the smell thing, I was a heavy heavy smoker for two decades and I don't think it is silly to complain about the smell. I never particularly liked it.
  15. I specifically said defend it. I would not no as you suggest above.
  16. What do you mean exactly? I would join the British Army not the Sheffield Army. I wouldn't want around on Devenshire Green till the enemy came. No matter what, even if we kinda deserved it as a nation, I would fight to stop an invasion here.
  17. To save the lives of my loved ones. Had I been a German civilian in 1945 I would have fought to defend my town from the Russian advance. Would you have just let them rape and slaughter because your country was in the wrong?
  18. One again you have wildly misunderstood. The ones with hate in their hearts are the protesters. I have never witnessed you being hateful. Why on earth did you think I was talking about you? Also, don't make quotes up. Very very nasty. I have described homosexual acts as actions, which they are. You are taking the Michael. Homosexuality is not a lifestyle, it is a sexuality. I would never, ever, put you down for your sexuality. To suggest I would is an insult. You are wildly mistaken. All I have ever said in this thread is that I understand why the protesters are protesting. And that from their point of view, they are being moral in their actions. Please stop strawmanning me.
  19. I am not spouting nonsense at all. The EU has no right to impose sanctions on Iran and make other people follow those sanctions. You really thought that the situation started with some hostages being taken in 1979. That is absurdly ignorant. I don't use that as an insult. There are a myriad of things I am ignorant of. I have no idea, for example, how a car anyone works. I am utterly ignorant of it. I don't automatically side with the UK. I would fight to defend it if need be, even if we were in the wrong. But I am not so blinkered that I can't see when we are being naughty.
  20. You seem very angry, it is sad. It would be very difficult, from a neutral standpoint, to paint the Iranians as the bad guys here.
  21. Pubs do charge for soda water. Sometimes it can be very expensive (like £2 a glass).
  22. It really is sad that someone so angry is so ignorant of the situation. Do you think the hostage taking was the starting point? You didn't know that the Americans overthrew a democratically elected regime just to put "their guy" in power? Imagine someone did that to us. Removed the PM (through force) and just put a puppet in Parliament. Would you be happy? We are absolutely in the wrong in this instance.
  23. I absolutely agree. Saying that got me attacked by some of the slower of thought members of this forum. I even feel sorry for them to a degree. Imagine being raised with such hate in your heart.
  24. Can you understand the reasoning behind their desire to protest?
  25. Where do you stand on defecation in the countryside? I have had to before, it isnt nice.
