  1. My husband and I are hoping to connect with Bernadette Taylor who lived on Carterknowle Road when we knew her in 1969-72. She went to Notre Dame and had sisters called Madeleine and Mary Theresa. She had a brother called Edward; there may be other siblings. Her mother was Irish. We all met at University in Derry/ Coleraine in 1969-72. She met Jimmy Ross over there and later married him. We are godparents to their daughter Elizabeth. We lost touch in the 1980's. Some of us are having a 50 year uni reunion in August 2019 and would love her to be with us.
  2. I went to Stradbroke Primary not Athelstan! My sister remembers us playing on waste ground at the bottom of Glenholme Road we called it 'the bumps' great for our home made go-carts we called 'bogeys'. Near there was a stream we paddled in in and huge water/sewage pipes we climbed all over. We were surrounded by farmland. My sister remembers a boy called Neil Matley, I remember a lad called Peter Hogg. They will be in their 60's now. there was also a family called Brewster and Beverly Hobson too. My mum's friend and family moved into one of the first flats at Norfolk Park; nowhere to play outside!
  3. I went to Brook 1961-65 then moved to Scarborough. Does any one remember Ann Shaw? I lived on Stradbroke estate, on Glenholme Road? I went to Athelstan Primary. I had a Saturday job, when I was 13, at Davys Grocers down town. I went to all the concerts at the City Hall ( Beatles etc ) We used to meet at the 'Boneyard ' in front of the Cathedral. There was a big record shop nearby where we always went. I also loved going to the Speedway; forget where it was. We went to Woodhouse 'Rec' and the library near there. Handsworth was not far; there was a little shop which sold Sarsaparilla flavour lollies! Happy days. We were the Turner family. I had a sister called Jackie who was going to King Egberts until we moved, a brother called Ian and I am Carol.
