  1. come over to sydney and fill up be cheaper than UK. JACK
  2. Thats not answering the question. We pay GST tax and fuel tax. And australia inports oil so why is petrol double the price in the UK .its supply and demand theres A lot more people in the UK than in Australia . So in my book it should be cheaper in the UK think about it . Just for the record I was born and bread in Sheffield . Jack Sydney
  3. I was looking at the Sheffield news in regard petrol prices. In Sydney top price for one litre petol is $1.35; that's top money which is equivalent to 59 pence so why are you in Sheffield paying One pound 9 pence a litre which is equivalent to $2.48 Austrailan. In my book that is nearly twice as much. UK has got all the oil in the North sea; Australia imports most of our oil. Someone in the UK is making a lot of money Jack Sydney

  10. I recently saw a trailer on a recent movie set in Sheffield. The movie was about a group of schoolboys studying to go to Oxford The Headmaster doesn't think they would pass exams so they bring in a specialist tutor. Does anyone on The Forum know the name of the Movie and if it has been released on DVD yet? Has anyone on The Forum seen the movie. Signed Sheffield ex patriot who collects Sheffield movies.

  16. I worked in the office as a teenager for a few months. 1960/1961. Our office manager was called Pauline. They showed how the electrodes worked how they were kept in a sort of "resin' in large baths. The electrodes were huge things. They had a cafeteria where we could buy dinner for next to nothing. The bus would collect us from the beginning of Claywheels lane to the building and then return us to Halifax Rd at the end of day. Their letterhead said British Acheson and Union Carbide. We were close to Bachelors Peas where one of my old mates worked as a comptometer operator (the early version of today's computers.) The environment surrounding was woody and green - it's sad to know suck a horrible sickness came out of it. It was very high tech.
  17. Anybody on Forum an expat of the Meynell Road School Youth Club in 1959 n 1960. They opened for teenagers every evening. You probably also went to the Roxy and the Mecca those years. Searching for anybody who joined in the Youth Club overseas trips during those years. Is there any way of locating the Youth club's expat's?
