My mum Ada was the youngest child of Florence and William Bridges She always spoke with great fondness about Ernest. I met Ernest, Dorothy and Andrew on many occasions, visiting with my parents and also while I was doing my Nursing training in Sheffield. Does anyone know what happened to Andrew?

There is also a burial record for Florence Bridges, daughter of late William H and Florence Bridges age 9 months

Looking at theSheffield Indexers burial records, I believe Florence born in 1930, died at the age of 9 months in May 1931. This was only one month after her father( my grandfather) died in April 1931.

Could Ernest be the Eric mentioned in previous posts? I always thought Ernest was a full brother of my mother but obviously not. I still can’t find any record of Andrew

Thanks for your reply. The earlier posts have left me confused. I always knew my mother’s half brother and sister ( children of Florence and Shuttleworth) as Andrew and Dorothy but one of the earlier posts refer to them as Dorothy and Eric !

I don’t know if anyone will monitor this page as the last post listed was in 2013! I came across this forum topic whilst doing research on my grandmother and her second husband Shuttleworth Clift. My mother was Ada one of the children to Florence’s first marriage. I believe there were two children to the marriage between Florence and Shuttleworth, my mother’s half brother and sister Andrew and Dorothy who I met on several occasions when visiting my grandmother. The last time would probably have been at my grandmother’s funeral in 1970/71? Someone mentioned a son Eric to this marriage but the only two I knew of were Andrew and Dorothy. If anyone has found out anymore information about them or about Shuttleworths disappearance, I would like to hear. My mother never talked about it
