  1. Thanks for all your responses! I think it is going to be a case of setting a day aside and going to all these counters and trying them all out - worth it in the long term if you manage to find the perfect make up! It is ridiculous to still be intimidated by these women at the age of 26.
  2. Really sorry if this has been covered - did a search and couldn't see the same thread. I am looking for some advice from women who have found a perfect foundation. Having always used L'Oreal or Max Factor, I am finally at the stage where I don't mind paying for a good one if it covers up my awful skin!! I haven't got any specific conditions like acne or anything but I am a typical 'English Rose' (that's putting it politely!) with a poor complexion, redness and an uneven tone. There's a real trend lately for light, dewy fresh make up but I really need something with a lot of coverage. How do I get that matte, flawless skin everyone else has?! I'm 26 now and I am planning to finally find the perfect foundation but there are so many make up counters in Boots that a bit of initial guidance would be great. Thanks.
  3. Bah, does not look like I am getting much support here! Oh well, the good thing about having strange taste in men is that there is not generally much competition for the ones you like! Thanks for the responses x
  4. Just hoping to get a general opinion really as I thought he was quite an obvious person to find attractive but, following a conversation with work colleagues, it has become quite a controversial topic!
  5. What is a keep left bollard? Regarding your phobia - have you had a nasty experience such as almost going through a give way line without stopping or anything? Or nearly crashing into something? Because if so, that's perfectly natural and not irrational at all.
  6. yes, I suppose there are usually sevearl older people hanging around in the slow lane and chatting of a morning. But so what? Those who want to swim can just duck under the ropes and swim in the fast or medium lane! I love the atmosphere at Hillsborough of a morning and like the way the 'socialites' always say hi to me as I get in and out.
  7. Every morning? Just think it's weird the way these people are part of your life every single day yet you will prob never speak to them!
  8. Hello This is just a curiosity post really. I go swimming a few times a week at Hillsborough Leisure Centre between 7.30 and 8am and see the same people every time. Also go on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, but you don't see as many regulars then. Are any of these people Forummers? If so, give us a
  9. I thought you meant has the concept of being a "third wheel" died out as opposed to the actual berry. Wonder where that phrase came from?!
  10. Nowt wrong with Tandem, it's fine. Having failed to find a house to buy, we are now considering maybe renting there while we carry on looking (I cannot cope with another winter of driving from Sheffield to Huddersfield through all manner of weather conditions in a bashed up Micra). Doesn't seem to be much out there though! If only there was a Huddersfield forum, it would make all the difference...
  11. Yes I do agree, it's like saying to the original caller "I'll speak to you until something more interesting comes up - I want to keep my options open". Like the new avatar :-)
  12. Hello I am going through the same thing at the mo (though haven't had an offer accepted yet). I too felt that everyone else knew something I didn't and kept hearing horror stories about needing a spare 5k to 'cover costs' but was then told by the advisor that we'd only need to pay £400 for the survey. Anyway, I found a book called Buying a Home on a Budget for Dummies really helpful. You'll find it on most websites like Amazon for under a tenner which is nothing compared to what you're about to spend. The reason for the discrepency is that you have to pay stamp duty if the house is over 125k, there's fees that sometimes apply like a mortgage indemnity guarantee (easily avoidable) and then there's optional costs on things like life insurance and variable costs depending on the survey you get. That's why some people say you need a good few grand, and some say you can do it on a shoestring. I would recommend this book though as it has handy checklists so ou can keep referring backto it to make sure you're not being ripped off. x
  13. I went to see it on Friday but don't know whether it was the understudy or not. It was a good performance I thought - did you enjoy it?
  14. Well I think it sounds like you acted like the perfect gentleman! V wise move not taking her home (though God knows what you would have done without the kindly couple! Left her there?! Would have been a dilemma!) So many girls would have played the "you took advantage card" if you had have so always best to cover your back. She's just embarrassed anyway. Don't take it personally and put it down to experience. x
