The results Saturday will be very important, Hudders and Birmingham have winnable games with Stoke and Plymouth to play each other, if by some miracle Rovrum could get something out of Brum (very doubtful) it gives us the perfect incentive to beat Blackburn whether we can then do that or not is another matter, Rovers will see the game as the one that makes them safe so they won't be sitting back, I feel it could all be over by Sunday afternoon.

Huddersfield's last game is away at Ipswich,  a lot( top and bottom) could depend on that.

Now that Darren Moore is leaving Huddersfield, maybe he's after the Liverpool job.

Wasn't there a former Huddersfield manager in charge at Liverpool years ago?

    Yes, Bill Shankly.

I truly believe that both Sheffield clubs will not settle financially, or lay a foundation for future sustainable growth & advancement until their respective owners call it a day and sell to more suitable ownership.

Both clubs have suffered due to either the ineptitude or financial shortcomings (or both) of their current owners.

Effectively its two boys playing with their toys.

Until ownership changes, both clubs are facing an uncertain, if not bleak future.

Good answer, not long till Chesterfield v Blades/Owls derbies then.

Technically it’s already in our own hands.
If in fantasy land we take maximum points, Stoke would have to win their three remaining games to finish above us on goal difference, and if they did that Plymouth can only finish a point behind us at best.

    Thanks for indulging me.

On a side note: How did Birmingham get so bad?

There must have been about that many at Blackburn when we all but clinched promotion in 1980. What a night that was, went in 1-0 down at the break despite outplaying them, Mellor and Taylor putting things right second half.

Unbelievable show of support for Wednesday next week at Blackburn Rovers ….7,000 tickets sold …more remarkable considering it’s a 12.30 kick off ..on a Sunday & on Sky …

Is there a limit -in any division- as to how many tickets a club can allocate to away fans?

but they are still okay as they have millions next season and beyond as a parachute payments so they will go straight back up either next season or the following ,its easy if you have those payments. but those are the rules so they are okay.

What happened to the 'millions' they collected from the previous parachute payments? And the sales of-among others- Ramsdale and Berg?

  7. I don't think it was called the Marples' in the 1940s  , rather  after a landlord at the time or previous.  Also when the Hermitage pub (London Road) was a rebuilt in 1963 after the previous pub l was bombed, there was a plaque outside commemorating . 'Original building on this site was destroyed by enemy action '. Whether lives were lost then I don't know.

    Not pointless at all.

It gives you the top line information and you then choose whether you’d like to pay to see the full information that has been painstakingly investigated and reported on.

Thats only fair to The Tribune.

And Tribune can't even get the street  right that Kommune is on.

Well done, now that you mention it,  Applebaum's was on the corner of  Mappin Street! Thank you for refreshing my memory! I remember it from early 80s to early 90s ish. I think they might have moved to Chapel Walk after that, but could be a false memory...

Not lived in Sheffield since the 1980s, there is a photo of the Applebaum's I remember on Division Street between Cambridge Street and Carer Lane at Picture Sheffield code No;  s23129

Not sure whether you’d categorise him as a crooner but he had a good voice, particularly in his younger years and could certainly entertain folks.

I was referring to his song ‘It was a very good year’ which was released on an LP in ‘65 and won him a Grammy Award. I think it was one of his better performances.

I also liked Dylan who was a breath of fresh air when he broke onto the scene in the ‘60s.

His early songs are classics. Others I enjoyed were Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell and Donovan.

Used to frequent the Sheffield folk clubs in those days. Tony Capstick was a favourite as a singer/musician and a comedian.

Missed seeing Dylan live but I did see Chuck Berry and the Moody Blues at the Gaumont on 11th January 1965.

    echo.

I was at that i965 great show, wasn't Joe Brown in it and perhaps the Everly Brothers or am I wrong about the U.S, duo? The Moody's had just scored their first big hit then 'Go Now' with Denny Laine on lead vocals.
