  1. Huddersfield's last game is away at Ipswich, a lot( top and bottom) could depend on that.
  2. I think at one time that part of Norfolk Street (Arundel Gate to Fitzalan Square) for whatever reason. had it's name changed to Esperanto Place.

  10. I don't think it was called the Marples' in the 1940s , rather after a landlord at the time or previous. Also when the Hermitage pub (London Road) was a rebuilt in 1963 after the previous pub l was bombed, there was a plaque outside commemorating . 'Original building on this site was destroyed by enemy action '. Whether lives were lost then I don't know.
  11. Not so unlucky as the Friday mash came mixed with parsley sauce, for the fish. best dinner (lunch) of the week.
  12. When i was at secondary school-1958-62- we never had chips, it was mashed potato with everything including fish. Wonder when the 'Chip syndrome' started?
  13. Yes it was and Duncan Gilmour's brewery was on the other side of Bridge Street nearer to Snig Hill.
  14. Wasn't there a new type bus running around- the old- Lodge Moor route- about three y ears ago with the old SCT cream and blue colours, as there was no more SCT, who owned/ran it?
  15. Jim, I think the Athol building extended to Pinstone Street but they were private dwellings (above the ground floor anyway). The Athol had two entrances, Charles Street and Cross Burgess Street.

  17. Not lived in Sheffield since the 1980s, there is a photo of the Applebaum's I remember on Division Street between Cambridge Street and Carer Lane at Picture Sheffield code No; s23129
  18. I was at that i965 great show, wasn't Joe Brown in it and perhaps the Everly Brothers or am I wrong about the U.S, duo? The Moody's had just scored their first big hit then 'Go Now' with Denny Laine on lead vocals.

  21. The season after the Owls were runners up to champions Tottenham (I think).
