If the road was never widened, could it not be rebuilt again ? However I think this is incorrect and indeed the road now runs where it once stood, as it used to be located directly across from the Ship Inn ... I stand corrected?

I went in a while ago but made the mistake of going in before 6pm... a chorus of dogs yowling and a rabble of children with their yummy mummys and beardie daddys were noisily devouring pizzas .. not exactly conducive to a quiet drink ... fortunately I waited it out and after about 6pm when the parent types dragged their yowling brats and animals home it sort of quitened down and a more sophisticated night crowd started to arrive. I tried the pizza. I must say it was nice but very expensive at 12 quid. If you were sharing with a partner you are effectively paying 6 quid for about 3 slices. The veggie ones are nice and spicy - green or red chilli. I couldnt really say much on the beer - generic real ale stuff I'm told it rotates regularly. Nice surroundings but was surprised how little they changed the layout and decor since it was Luna Rossa restaurant. Maybe it will grow and shape into a really good real ale place in due course and its a good new addition to the Heeley scene rather than a closed abandoned restaurant.....

Why have SCC done this ? Do they not actually want more jobs and prosperity to come to Sheffield ?

Went past it by bus this morning and noticed some building works or something going on there .. you could literally peek in the front door and see daylight coming from its rear :-O Is it being renovated or replaced by something else? Shame to be losing a lovely old pub like that with some of Sheffields history. I believe the facade also has some architecturally interesting features?

Yes, they do cocktails and gins too , so if one was staying in the local area, it could be a place to finish up the night in. Does anyone know what the plans are for the other half - the space beside Barrowboy? An authentic fish and chippy would be nice, or maybe a small wine bar? Also whats happening the Vault antique place opposite on corner of Sheldon now its vacated again .. that would make a wicked wine bar :-)

Yes the OP has still not given a reason. I sometimes find the bar people a bit slow when its busy, but they seem largely on the young side and not very experienced. I guess they recruit a lot of students from nearby for temp work.

Yes I'm shocked that the cladding is falling off so quickly from St. Pauls !! I'd be worried if I had an apartment there ...

My hate list: - Unattended bars when I walk into a pub - I wait for 10 mins max and then walk out! - Poorly staffed bars - too few bar staff at busy times - I walk out! - Getting the wrong change - yes it does sometimes happen - Being poured a pint when I have specifically asked for a half - Getting an aghast surprise when I ask for a half and not a pint - Boozy/boring/mad/crazy people trying to strike up a conversation at me while sat at bar - Barmen taking 15 mins to make a cocktail while there is a beer queue - No time to drink up - No real ale choice on the menu - Overpriced drink just cos of a bars location or trendiness ... the list goes on.. its a wonder I go out at all !!

Please support her, she needs the audience as I believe that the other DJ has now dropped out of the act :-(

I'm a frequent user but have never found them hostile, maybe they are a bit complacent in their jobs. Can you substantiate your claim a bit more with say some concrete examples?
