Yes, I'd give the Catalonia region a wide berth for any breaks this year.
I heard Paul Hudson speaking about this a couple of days ago. Apparently, some of the Barcelona footballers are already complaining about "Third World conditions."
Well try helping gentlemen by ditching the Bentleys, Ferraris & Lamborghinis for something smaller.

'Should We Phase Out Alcohol?'
For God sake, no.

Hang on a minute! This sort of thing wasn't supposed to happen!
Look who's trying to smarmy their way up to little old UK.

It's as though they've lost out on something although they seem to want a lot of conditions? My first reaction would be "Well, you're coming to us, so we're in the boss seat. What's in it for us first & foremost? We'll go away & have a good long think & eventually get back to you, EU. You're not really a priority for us at the moment."

Watched the news tonight & they interviewed the Chairman of Cray Valley Paper Mills F.C. who managed to get a 1 - 1 at Charlton. The following reply at Cray Valley, Cray Valley were hammered 1 - 6 but their Chairman explained that even those 2 games against might Charlton brought in over £120,000 that's kept the club solvent & allowed them to develop facilities.
I also remember watching the reply on tv between Bristol City v West Ham. First game, 1 - 1 draw. Reply, 1 - 0 Bristol City. West looked a bit sorry for themselves that night & I can't remember who the pundit was but he said something along the lines of, "Well your average Premiership player doesn't like coming to grounds like this on a cold January night."
Says it all. But sadly that's the way of the world. The money talks.
I'd you gave me the option of the Blades winning the FA Cup or staying in the Premiership, I'd take the Premiership any day with all the many, many more millions that the club could receive.

Different player. That was Sun Jihai who did the tackle. Remember it well.
After his sliding tackle, the pitch looked like a WWI trench, he'd dug up so much grass.

'Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel'. Download it a while ago from BBC I-Player.
Sci-fi comedy starring Chris O'Dowd, the Irish guy from the IT Crowd.
Quirky film about an alien sent to kill & wipe out humanity but with the twist of time travel so the main characters get to re-live the same few hours, mainly based their local pub, a number of times over the same few hours with different outcomes. They even get to meet themselves at one stage.
Funnier than it sounds & a very original plot. 7.5/10.

Hi All. I've been sent / copied in to a number of emails / messages from a number of SF posters. Only reason I've not been posting is because we've been on a long holiday & I only take a cheap PAYG mobile abroad with no Internet access to it.

The German national side are dropping Adidas as their kit provider in favour of Nike. German ministers have accused the German FA of being unpatriotic.
Maybe Nike will be putting a 'playful' little swastika on the back of their collars?

You know what's incredible about this thread?
I posed the question 'Are Calais Migrants OUR Problem?', way back in January 2018 & absolutely nothing has changed - other than the UK spending, (wasted), billions of pounds.
-
So now Starmer has wades into the 'argument'.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-68632034
Nike have got exactly what they wanted, a vast amount of free publicity. It's the costs, especially of the 'authentic' shirts that get me. £125. Fair enough, it might have been 'playfully' designed & developed in the US but the majority will probably be sawn together in the backstreets of Dhaka?

Unfunny, Manc comedian. He'll have to offer a comment on this. It's March & its along time until the next panto rehearsal to be out of the limelight.

Let's hope we're not back here in a year or two wondering what to do when it goes belly up again?
Look North interviewed The Independent's travel correspondent, Simon Calder tonight. He wished it well given the money promised but said don't expect much this year. He forecast that planes might be taking off by Easter 2025?
He also said the worrying thing is the airport doesn't appear to have been missed by the public during the time its been mothballed, given the proximity of other airports. The only pluses he could see was that it could be used as an overspill for the likes of Manchester & Leeds / Bradford so that congestion could be eased at these airports.
I said it a few posts back. I'd just have it as a designated freight airport 24 hours a day. That would put it ahead of the likes of East Midlands, which only takes freight mainly at night.

Looks like Donny Airport might be back in business in the near future?

Pity SCC won't be allowing any advertising on their billboards for it though.

Ain't no silver bullet for cancer or for many of the other diseases / conditions that will see us off in our old age.
A doctor once told me the opposite in that, if you manage to stay fit & & healthy into your late 80's, early 90's you'll have been exposed to most things & the only thing that's going to get you is old age. You just pass away in your sleep.

When 1000 vehicles turn up in the same half hour to find no parking.
Same as the St James has had no detriment on traffic flow.Simple question. What happens at the moment in Dronfield when 1,000 cars turn up? Do they all have a parking space?

Husband given 'his wife's ashes' weeks before she was actually cremated.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-68606271
I'm beginning to have my doubts about those cheap, simple cremations. I know one family who went down that route & their mother's body was picked up from Sheffield & apparently taken to the other side of Nottingham for cremation & it was a good month before her ashes were returned.

"Are they stopping serving alcohol in places like the City Hall?
Are they stopping supporting reopening Doncaster airport?
Are they going to stop taking business rates from places like McDonalds and BurgerKing?
No? oh just virtue signalling then"
I heard the final part of the interview. I wondered who the woman was? A SCC Councillor then.
I was also listening to Foster afterwards, highlighting that the Councillor stated that baby formula wouldn't be advertised because SCC are interested in promoting the 'breast is best' natural way. To which Foster pointed out his wife had difficulty breastfeeding their second child & had to result to formula.
He also pointed out that such a stance taken by SCC might have a detrimental mental health effect on women unable to breastfeed?
Another curious juxtaposition was that SCC will refuse the likes of Barclay's Bank adverts. But again, as Foster pointed out, when you pay your SCC council tax, guess which bank's bank account it gets paid into on behalf of SCC? Yes, you're correct, Barclay's.
A little bit of hypocracy with your tea, Councillors?

If anyone would like to save money, cook your own dinner & for just a fiver, I'll come and round yours & talk down to you & belittle you.
This Karen's Diner concept. Is it a two-way experience. Can I return the abuse to the waiting staff, chef & then say I'm not paying for over-priced garage?

We live in a country where people prefer to beg than work .
And numerous other examples which fortunately do not represent the majority of people who live in this country.
And yet people continue to pay a fortune to traffickers to get here.

I always thought that ALL football clubs, regardless of any being in the Premiership were affiliate members of the FA with voting rights?
Surely, something that will affect a large proportion of the affiliate, can't just be waived through at the whim of the FA hierarchy without it being put to members & a possible vote?
