  1. The German national side are dropping Adidas as their kit provider in favour of Nike. German ministers have accused the German FA of being unpatriotic. Maybe Nike will be putting a 'playful' little swastika on the back of their collars?
  2. You know what's incredible about this thread? I posed the question 'Are Calais Migrants OUR Problem?', way back in January 2018 & absolutely nothing has changed - other than the UK spending, (wasted), billions of pounds.
  3. So now Starmer has wades into the 'argument'. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-68632034 Nike have got exactly what they wanted, a vast amount of free publicity. It's the costs, especially of the 'authentic' shirts that get me. £125. Fair enough, it might have been 'playfully' designed & developed in the US but the majority will probably be sawn together in the backstreets of Dhaka?
  4. Unfunny, Manc comedian. He'll have to offer a comment on this. It's March & its along time until the next panto rehearsal to be out of the limelight.
  5. Look North interviewed The Independent's travel correspondent, Simon Calder tonight. He wished it well given the money promised but said don't expect much this year. He forecast that planes might be taking off by Easter 2025? He also said the worrying thing is the airport doesn't appear to have been missed by the public during the time its been mothballed, given the proximity of other airports. The only pluses he could see was that it could be used as an overspill for the likes of Manchester & Leeds / Bradford so that congestion could be eased at these airports. I said it a few posts back. I'd just have it as a designated freight airport 24 hours a day. That would put it ahead of the likes of East Midlands, which only takes freight mainly at night.
  6. Looks like Donny Airport might be back in business in the near future? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-68625426 Pity SCC won't be allowing any advertising on their billboards for it though.
  7. A doctor once told me the opposite in that, if you manage to stay fit & & healthy into your late 80's, early 90's you'll have been exposed to most things & the only thing that's going to get you is old age. You just pass away in your sleep.
  8. Simple question. What happens at the moment in Dronfield when 1,000 cars turn up? Do they all have a parking space?
  9. Husband given 'his wife's ashes' weeks before she was actually cremated. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-68606271 I'm beginning to have my doubts about those cheap, simple cremations. I know one family who went down that route & their mother's body was picked up from Sheffield & apparently taken to the other side of Nottingham for cremation & it was a good month before her ashes were returned.
  10. I heard the final part of the interview. I wondered who the woman was? A SCC Councillor then. I was also listening to Foster afterwards, highlighting that the Councillor stated that baby formula wouldn't be advertised because SCC are interested in promoting the 'breast is best' natural way. To which Foster pointed out his wife had difficulty breastfeeding their second child & had to result to formula. He also pointed out that such a stance taken by SCC might have a detrimental mental health effect on women unable to breastfeed? Another curious juxtaposition was that SCC will refuse the likes of Barclay's Bank adverts. But again, as Foster pointed out, when you pay your SCC council tax, guess which bank's bank account it gets paid into on behalf of SCC? Yes, you're correct, Barclay's. A little bit of hypocracy with your tea, Councillors?
  11. If anyone would like to save money, cook your own dinner & for just a fiver, I'll come and round yours & talk down to you & belittle you. This Karen's Diner concept. Is it a two-way experience. Can I return the abuse to the waiting staff, chef & then say I'm not paying for over-priced garage?
  12. What was the point I missed?
  13. And yet people continue to pay a fortune to traffickers to get here.
  14. This Sunday, 24th March, between 12 - 16:00. Nether Edge Rd & surrounding area.
  15. When I was listening to Tice yesterday, he was quite happy for UK Reform to be referred to as Right-wing, (as its got to sit somewhere on the political spectrum), but not Far-right as this throws up connotations of Nazism, violence, etc, for which nobody has any evidential proof of any such connections with UK Reform & that's why Tice is threatening future legal action should anyone or any organisations say or print. The BBC were quick to back down & retract such mention of any Far-right attitudes. In fact Tice asked the public to look at what's on their website & compare it to Labour & he said in some cases, UK Reform are suggesting policies that are to the Left of Labour.
  16. I see no reason why Robert Marnock shouldn't be awarded such a plaque but let's face it, if wasn't for the hard work over the decades by the Friends of the Botanical Gardens, it wouldn't be the great asset to the city it is & there wouldn't be a place to hang the plaque.
  17. Regarding walking. I read an article a few months ago about a new phenomenon 'discovered' by a social media influencer, (as usual), & posted on their TikTok thingy, (aren't they always), & apparently it amazed thousands of followers. And the new, amazing phenomenon the social influencer was promoting via social media that they'd 'discovered' was really great for mental health well being, 'Silent Walking'. In other words, just going out for a stroll with bothering to play with your mobile or for some reason film yourself for TikTok as you're going along.
  18. The last census results. Across England and Wales, 46% of people identified as being Christian, 37% said they had no religion, 6% identified as Muslim, and 2% identified as Hindu. Around 2% identified as being Buddhist, Sikh, Jewish or of another religion.
  19. The BBC has had to issue an apology to The Reform Party for referring to them as 'Far-right' . https://order-order.com/2024/03/19/bbc-apologises-for-describing-reform-uk-as-far-right/ Very strange that the story is across a number of MSM websites but not a mention on the BBC website, not even in the politics section. Hmmm? Also Reform Party leader, Richard Tice has threatened legal action against anyone repeating the Far-right tag.
  20. Now what SCC could do of course, unhealthy food wise, is to stop licensing retail units across the city for fast food / takeaway outlets, Take any council estate anywhere in Sheffield & they're will be a row of half a dozen shops that used to be a news agent, butchers, hardware, bakery, etc. Now SCC will have re-licenced the units so you have 4 takeaways & 2 vape shops.
  21. What did they spend the Rumbelows' voucher on?
  22. That'd be George Jobey's Derby County then.
  23. I can see where SCC is coming from & valant principles but all they are really doing is denying themselves a source of revenue & all the companies will do is use the other billboards around Sheffield that aren't SCC controlled. Principles don't pay the bills.
