  1. What annoys me is I have this 'unlimited phone package' but they charge for anything other than 01 02 etc numbers, I use say no to 0870 but sometimes it's not an option so I end up paying for the damn calls on top of the package.
  2. Yes, on XL TV, unlimited landline (which I hardly use these days but need it for ageing parents calls!) and med broadband which is fast enough - it's a 10% increase though, ridiculous
  3. I shall be making the call to see if I can reduce this package, our is just going up by £5.50 per month, and then they insult me by telling me all I am getting for this extra money. I don't care a jot about the sports channel or speed it's fine as it is thanks another £66 per year is a joke. How much extra is everyone elses?
  4. They look fantastic, had exactly the same thought, save refilling all the potholes!
  5. Bought a nexus 4 after a recommendation from here, daughter really pleased except the battery always runs out before the end of the day she is a prolific user though
  6. Paul, that's really kind of you, I don't want to put anyone out though. Plus my hubby is an owl supporter and you mightn't take kindly to that! I would just take to the tip, just seems a shame that's it's all working and i thought maybe someone could use the printer/keyboard/mouse or am I wrong in this?
  7. So I have a tower computer that we no longer use, along with a working Epson printer (refills are actually £2 /£3 each so cheap), CRT screen, keyboard and mouse. All of it works and these days we just use the laptop, bit antisocial being up there. I want to get rid in an environmentally friendly way. The whole thing is around 9 years old. I don't know how to locate and remove the hard drive as there is internet banking that I have done on there so want it to be destroyed, seems a shame as it all works though. Anyone any ideas what I can/should do?
  8. Oh yeah? We're already up to speeds of 46mph gusts and I an really sacred!! check this out: http://www.sheffieldweather.co.uk/meso2/
  9. If that's the term there are always people climbing over the quarry wall to rubberneck at our view and take photos of the sunsets! Not forgetting Bonfire night, we get to see all of Woodseats rockets for free!
  10. Just found out it's not Homebase but Furniture for less
  11. Amazing photos, brings back memories of my time as a juror on a big case for 13 weeks, loved it. So sad to see the state of the building....why can't they renovate and make proper use of it such a waste.
  12. Normally it's really fast no issues but past two days it's driving me mad!
  13. It's really slow, can hardly open any pages without the 'oops' page popping up. I managed to get a speed test and that looked fine at 32meg then ran a antivirus scan, fine but all our devices are having trouble getting anything to load so it's a Virgin thing, anyone else having problems? Mods I know this is in the wrong area but I could only get into this board please move to tech?
  14. Ah, it might not be the same Henry Wilson of J & H Wilson then as he founded the company in 1833 but just seems a co-incidence with the mill being Westbrook Mill.....I loved the place...
  15. Thanks for the info, I think I'll have to call and have a chat, I owe a lot to Henry Wilson, sad I never met him.....
  16. I must see this, might have a look on Google earth....maybe they have family ties, I mean why else would you want this in your garden? ---------- Post added 06-10-2013 at 20:21 ---------- I've been up and down there on Google Earth and can't see anything, what am I looking for, how big is it, what colour is it? What kind of feature is it pleae? ---------- Post added 06-10-2013 at 20:50 ---------- That's right annoying, no one will see this thread now it's been moved!
  17. Wrong, wrong, wrong! Henry Wilson....was a snuff manufacturer along with Joseph. I used to work for J & H Wilson snuff manufacturers in the 80's until their closure I was one of the last people to work at the mill, that is Westbrook Mill at the top of Sharrowvale Road NOT the mill with the waterwheel, that is run by Wilson's & Company. You wouldn't believe how many people assume Wilsons & Co are/were the only snuff manufacturers in Sheffield. In 1833 Joseph and Henry decided to set up their own mill (Westbrook) after a family feud with the 'other Wilsons', Wilsons & Co just up the road, they were shunned and were considered ahead of their time as they used mechanical grinders and 'modern' machinery. I don't know anything about this marble thing, tell me more, J & H were long gone by the time I got there 133 years later, I know the company was passed onto someone called Harland? Then it was bought out by Imperial Tobacco (Ogdens) and later by Lord Hanson who sold t'mill as it was grade II listed and worth a bob or two. The snuff manufacture was moved to Liverpool but the mill is now converted to solicitors and professionals and my office is also converted, would love to go back for a nosey. I guess Knowle Lane in S11 is near Westbrook Mill so it could be my former long gone employer, might take a look, can anyone see it or is it a private house? There were always loads of paintings and antiques but I didn't know about this!
  18. Lulu3abby....which wax do you use and how do you apply?
  19. Did anyone see them filming for 'off their rockers' today, playing pranks on unsuspecting people? They've been in Sheffield all week...
  20. Sorry of course it's if they are in education (they check with the establishment) Good idea to use the NUS card it was handy when waiting for the 70p pass to arrive. 3 months free travel should save him (or you!) some money, and it's easier than scratching round for change, that is if he doesn't lose or misplace it like my daughter would! I know that apprentices get a very small wage so it all helps. Well done for getting an apprentiship, I hope he's enjoying it.
  21. Aw she's a beautiful Calico, I will keep a look out for her, I really hope you find her soon, keep us posted.
  22. It's a pity they lose the free transport when they are at 6th form, having 4 buses per day (different bus companies so no travel concessions) is a hefty £14 a week on 70p per trip discounted student fare. That's £500+ per year on buses alone, it's expensive, I think they should get free travel if in full time education. ---------- Post added 18-09-2013 at 21:05 ---------- If he's 16-18 he can get a travel card for 70p per trip.
