Following on from the icy out there for last night, tonight it's a bit scary where I am, just had a gust of 76 mph is sounded really scary... see this link for the live weather http://www.sheffieldweather.co.uk/meso2/ Just waiting now for all the usual 'windy' jokes

Every few weeks the lighting on the street is off, I never get an answer as to why they are off, I report on the SCC website but it got me wondering that this is happening every few weeks, is it a cost cutting exercise? Does this happen elsewhere? It's a few streets in the area round Derbyshire Lane/Norton Lees Road.

A few weeks ago a withheld number number called, I could hardly tell what he was talking about so after he called twice I was rude to him and told him where to get off, I was so annoyed by his persistence. It didn't stop him, he must have called back 5 times that night, each time leaving the line open in silence so I couldn't call out or end the call, in the end I left the phone off the hook, some people would have felt intimidated by this though, his call was an unwanted intrusion. In the end I used a tactic from many years ago when I was told by BT, press a couple of buttons on the handset and say 'SY Police tracing the call' he didn't call back after that!

I totally agree, my poor Mum is frightened by these calls
-
No, they have now got cocky saying, it doesn't matter as we aren't trying to sell you anything'

Bit of a dilemma looking for what I should do here. My Mum had an ideal logic boiler fitted in 2011. It was fitted by a family member who unbeknown to me didn't service it for her, she has dementia so never though about it. So I am assuming the 5 year guarantee is not in place which is a pity as that was the reason we chose this model. At the moment she is always cold so the heating is on 24/7, in fact it's been this was for a while as I can't figure out the settings to be honest and if it's on the timer sometimes the hot water doesn't work. She has just had a letter from ideal asking if she wants to have a yearly service for £85 then £107 the following year but I suppose as the book isn't filled in it still isn't guaranteed. Is it worth taking up this option? How much is a service normally?

I think it's worth the risk though the post will cost much more than the £6 bottle! -

Speaking of flocks of birds, this last week there have been hundreds of birds gathered in the trees round the back of Debenhams, trying to identify them, I think they sounded like Goldfinches..
