  1. Thanks Mike, yes checked the boot light glove compartment, visors everything we can think of, no no alarm, just the manufacturers immobiliser. Think it's a job for a pro here we've exhausted all options and I just don't trust driving it anywhere and the risk of calling the RAC yet again as we must be getting close to having used up all out call outs by now!
  2. When I searched before I posted this there was a really old thread from 2006 and some of the comments weren't very good for them, long time ago though.... ---------- Post added 15-04-2013 at 20:43 ---------- RAC Man said it was OK at the moment whatever that meant, however he didn't fill me with confidence...
  3. Needed for unknown cause of a battery losing charge overnight, battery replaced holding charge now but drains over a couple of days, nothing left on and it doesn't look like the alternator...
  4. but I think that was a different branch of the same family....the company at that beautiful mill's been there for centuries I think J & H were related to the ongoing Wilsons's & Co, the brands that J & H make aren't made by Wilsons & Co now (only Fribourg & Treyer which they bought out) but by Imperial Tobacco I think in Bristol, it did transfer to Ogden't at Liverpool but that's closed too. J & H Wilson broke free from the family on their own in 1833, they closed in 1989 not a bad innings for a family business! Westbrook Mill is also beautiful, still there listed grade II...
  5. It has the effect of a shot of nicotine but without the harmful side effects of the inhalation of tar. ---------- Post added 01-04-2013 at 21:25 ---------- Very true, a lot of accounts were held with what was in to 70's and 80's NCB pits... ---------- Post added 01-04-2013 at 21:27 ---------- Various blends of leaves, specified to recipe added to which are potash, salts, water and then secret added flavours, from mainly menthol, camphor through to bergamot, rose, wallflower and aniseed, whichever takes your fancy! ---------- Post added 01-04-2013 at 21:29 ---------- That would be Joseph & Henry Wilsons, formerly of Westbrook Mill, SharrowVale Road, until their closure in 1989 (where I worked) nice to see it's still manufactured somewhere, hope it's our recipe

  7. So is there a Thyroid group in Sheffield?
  8. I can and do do that with my Doctors. Depends what it is I guess.....
  9. Also, what if you are at work, I can't see my employer letting me wait for them to answer the phone let alone have a medical consultation, why not go to an online booking service, the one they have at the moment is absolute rubbish and should be revamped. Also if you don't turn up for an appointment let it be noted! I was surprised to get a text back monday to remind me of my appointment (in 3 weeks!) and it stated all the missed ones, that's what it's about, wasting their time. ---------- Post added 21-03-2013 at 20:53 ---------- It didn't say, just an unprofessional handwritten piece of flip board paper stuck in the window, what a way to go about it! ---------- Post added 21-03-2013 at 20:54 ---------- Leah, were you happy with this diagnosis? I find it unbelievable that they can do that without actually seeing you!
  10. This is my surgery, on Monday I waited on hold for 15 minutes to speak to a receptionist to book bloods (which you need to book at least 3 weeks in advance!) so what's it going to be like when everyone is trying to get through in the morning. What if you want to speak with a particular doctor who knows you and you get someone else and they want to see you, what happened to choice? This is a huge surgery and I fear a step backwards from the Sloan family in my opinion, very disappointing and could result in them losing patients. Feel sorry for the receptionists, it will be like working in a call centre but at least it will do away with the queue at the desk! Last time they called me back I was shopping at Homebase and I found it difficult to concentrate as I wasn't told when the callback would be, not very convenient at all!
  11. Speaking of buses in the norton lees area has anyone heard anything about them removing one of the 20 buses either 20 or 20A?
  12. Agreed......the number of times, in fact if I am in traffic waiting and I see someone with a phone to their ear I usually glare and gesticulate get off your phone to them (holds finger and thumb out in phone like fashion) it's amazing the cocky response you get like it's OK to do this. Like kckc says just one day spend would bring in an incredible amount of revenue, then they'd be more officers!
  13. Yay they're back http://www.sbsg.org/sightings/recent-news
  14. I'm sure you're right but how can that be managed would the police be interested?
  15. I live on part of a lane that's one way, drivers regularly flout this putting themselves and others on the blind bend at risk. I too would like this access only for residents, how wonderful that would be. At rush hour cars use the lane to cut off Chesterfield road and Scarsdale as a rat run through road to the ring road, they really put their foot down and whiz past which makes it tricky to get in your car at these times. We asked for speed bumps but there was no money left to do this part of the lane, shame as I have to keep my cat indoors as too many have been run over due to the speed of motorists. Access only please !
  16. Well I hope it's improved from a couple of years ago, when we went it was awful and the service and attitude really bad, in fact I felt that strong I commented on a forum about it. I would never go back unless it had new owners. As a recommendation we were at Kitos at Woodseats the other week they had a large birthday party in, I can also recommend the food, really nice.
  17. It's not lengthy to set up CRB's now, they are done on ebulk in a matter of days and also volunteer CRB's are free.....
  18. My thoughts exactly, keep meaning to phone and get the package reduced failed miserably last time though....
  19. Yes, was due Tuesday still not been and I don't think they will as the road is sheet ice!
  20. Sheffield's in the news for all the wrong reasons at the moment .......
  21. I remember them working there in the 60's to 70's when were you there?
  22. I need to look into where I can get replacements as my mom has loads as my gran and grandad worked side by side at Butlers all their working lives...I can remember visiting them at a little cutlers shop somewhere...
  23. How dare you, you've obviously no idea - people are always slagging public sector workers off and they have no idea what it involves!
