  1. Hi - I realise this post is quite old now, but just come across it whilst researching my Trigg family tree. My grandad was Joseph Trigg you mentioned. I would love interesting stories too if you have found out any since your post. My dad was Raymond Trigg (died a few years ago). who was Joseph's son. I am finding researching the family history fascinating and didn't realise Joseph's grandparents (Thomas Francis Trigg & Sarah Megginson) were from Waterford, Ireland and their parents Richard and Catherine Cutler. Many were brush makers and some lived in Liverpool before moving to Sheffield (St Phillip's, Netherthorpe area). I've visited the library today to look at directories and have come across many Twigg's (table knife. cutlery makers) and wondered if these were related but doubt it. I read on another forum that they were brushmakers too and a factory burnt down in Liverpool but can't find anything out about that. Would love to hear from you if you have any more info. I have photos of Jospehy's parents (Alice and Frederick). Julie
  2. I went to Meersbrook bank around 1970-1972 and remember Mr Ellis (can't remember what he looked like though). He gave me the cane on the hand when someone talked to me in assembly and I turned to answer them. Unbelievable wasn't it. I remember waiting outside his office. I used to giggle a lot in class and remember having to stand outside with my hands on my head. My name was Trigg back then and I had 2 older brothers who went to Newfield School too - Andy and Steven. I remember them joking about Mr Pope. I have great memories of living on Thirlwell Bank. At school I remember sitting on my own under those archways and having school lunch which I dreaded every day for some reason. There was a big stone barrell I used to play in after school which was in the playground. I don't remember much else apart from recorder lessons. I would love to look around the school now. My brothers and I are thinking of visiting Heeley for the first time to reminisce. I also remember walking home through Meersbrook Park on my own with all my school paintings on the last day of term and catching the bus on my own to school when my brothers left.
  3. I used to work with Lisa Blagden in the late 80s/early 90s at Manpower Services Commission at the bottom of the Moor in Sheffield (changed its name many times since). We worked in the TEC team and were friends for a few years before I moved to Leeds. She got in touch with me around 2000s but we lost touch again. She had just had a child. She left Manpower and became a nurse but not sure if it was Hallamshire or not. I have a photo but can't see how to upload one. If anyone thinks they know who this is (I know it's a long shot) please let me know. She will be in her late 40s now . Thank you Julie (my name used to be Trigg)
