  1. Well, to be fair, you'd have to ask the judge that. I'm speaking and debating generally and I think I've made my opinion crystal clear, but what is your opinion? You like to criticise but you've offered little to the debate, which is ongoing and yet to conclude.
  2. There wasn't a question in the OP, it was an invitation to discuss, which I am trying to do.
  3. That Plug was just one bad <deleted>.😀
  4. OK, I've read the piece now and it doesn't say, in my interpretation that she's avoided a custodial sentence. Debate is to influence and change opinions, what it isn't is a quick exchange of views.
  5. We haven't got to the debates conclusion yet, youth runs, wisdom walks. If for instance I had thrown all the cards on the table at once, then where is the pleasure of debate there?
  6. @Cyclone The reoffending rate for males was higher than for females, however, females had the highest number of reoffences per reoffender. Despite the lower reoffending rate (23.4% compared to 30.7% for males), female reoffenders had the highest average number of reoffences per reoffender, 4.32 compared to 4.02 for males. The above was taken from the link below, https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/759770/women-criminal-justice-system-2017..pdf The reoffending rate being 7.3% lower for females than it is for males which begs the question why should that be? The difference in the reoffending per reoffender rate is of no statistical importance due to the amount being insignificant. Why is the rate different? There is also some good data in the link as well.
  7. What makes you think I can't explain my opinion? https://www.ethnicity-facts-figures.service.gov.uk/british-population/demographics/male-and-female-populations/latest The link shows the make up of the British population, which demonstrates that to all intents and purposes that the population is fairly even in respect of males and females although some ethnic minorities do appear to be offset a little more, but not that much. Men are 22 times more likely than a woman to be jailed which demonstrates that your point about minor differences to be wrong, there are considerable differences between male and females, both physiological and psychological. Why would you think that there's 22 more times men in prison than women, and you can't put it all down to inadequate sentencing.
  8. Don't get confused with these two as many do, consequence is an integral part of risk so there is no need to mention them together, a small equation to demonstrate this would be as follows, Risk = Probability x Consequence.
  9. I think it's fair to say that men and women are physiologically different. As for the OP, I maybe misunderstood. I thought we were discussing sentencing in general, not specifically to this case. Are you saying the judge in this case got the sentence wrong? I must admit to having only a cursory look at the case so wouldn't have a view. Because we are made up differently, that is beyond reproach.
  10. No, I just wanted to make clear that my views are about sentencing and nothing to do with being found guilty or not.
  11. Interesting to see you using the word "punishment". Where does rehabilitation fit in? I think fining someone can be seen as punishment and my view would be that this went along the lines of that persons circumstances and their ability to pay. In respect of rehabilitation then custodial sentences gives society the chance at least to go someway towards rehabilitating the offender. That being said, I know there are instances where voluntary rehabilitation courses are used to say reduce a fine or sentence which is outside custodial sentences. So, as far as fines go then it could and should be that a rich woman be fined more than a poor man but this wouldn't be because of their gender it would be based on their ability to pay the fine. As far as custodial sentences go, there is no way locking a woman up is of any benefit to her or society as a whole. There is also another criteria to be taken into account when sentencing which would be the protection of the public as well. So, if we consider, punishment, rehabilitation and protection of society, I could perceive that the punishment could be neutral with a fine or a part of the custodial sentence being attributed to punishment. But rehabilitation and protection of society are not served by parity, a male should face longer terms for this.
  12. Don't think I said that although I can understand you think that.
  13. You need to keep up, read all the links I've so graciously supplied to you, especially the last one, and then if you don't understand I fear you never will.
  14. You may have a point worth arguing with the men getting lighter sentences, i'll look forward to you expanding on that. You have to start paying attention.
  15. Faux outrage. Copy and paste my reply to halibut into your browser. It wasn't you who used the term, it was me. You clearly understood what I meant though as you obviously thought you were being clever but actually fell flat on your face.😂😂😂

  17. You'll have to read the whole topic again, they are the fairer sex and need to be cut more slack than a male in a similar way an elderly person or a child would receive more understanding. You can't have a regimented system where all people are tret the same as it is clear they are not.
  18. What you mean is I haven't satisfied your closed views on the topic, I've given my reasons, you either haven't been paying attention or you just don't accept my argument. The female is far less capable of criminality than a male, they just aren't as bad as males are, it is in their make up, if you can't accept that then that's a problem you have to deal with.
  19. I only speak as an individual and how i've conducted myself throughout my life. I'm male and I've fought with other males at times (not clever I know) but I have never and could never strike a female. These are standards I've lived my life by, I've always tret women differently and I don't apologise for it, it's natural. What I do have trouble understanding is the fact that some people on here think you a troll because you have a differing opinion from the one they hold, what's that all about.
