  1. Hi again. I don't live too far from the Bradford area and the waste is in reference to household. Here's a link for a bit more info: https://www.bradford.gov.uk/recycling-and-waste/household-waste-recycling-centres/residents-permits-for-household-waste-recycling-centres/
  2. Hi all. I don't live in Sheffield but presumably the procedure will be the same for all councils in England. Once you're issued ssued with a permit, do you need to show any other proof to the guy at the waste disposal site? And what does the actual permit say? Will it have your name and address on it? If no other evidence is required to dispose of your waste, then it's a pretty farcical show. I mean, you could give it to anyone you like from anywhere in the area, not just those in your household. Unless I'm wrong of course. Thanks.
  3. I've done literally everything in the following links (except to take the laptop apart): https://www.google.co.uk/search?safe=strict&source=hp&ei=fU9lXrqxJcOelwS68KaIAg&q=toshiba+l655d+black+screen&oq=todhiba+l655d+bla&gs_l=mobile-gws-wiz-hp.1.0.0i22i30l5j33i160l2j33i22i29i30.3725.14832..15582...9.0..0.178.2580.3j19....2..0....1.......8..41j41i160j41i22i30j0j0i131j46i131j46i131i275j0i131i395j46i131i395j0i395j0i10j46j0i13j0i13i30j0i22i10i30.yqtioWelkyk
  4. It's too risky to take apart the laptop just to access the battery. And even if it's dead, I'd still be able to use the laptop with a charger plugged in. It seems quite a few people have had this issue with a Toshiba laptop; even probably other makes too. A simple Google search will prove that. So in theory, if I don't use the laptop for a month or so, what are the chances of the CMOS battery dying? Bearing in mind the laptop itself is definitely about 10 years old.
  5. Hi all. I've got some issues with an old Toshiba laptop (L655d model). It shut down due to overheat whilst in the middle of an application. Now everytime I switch it on, I'm presented with that dreaded black screen. I've tried various methods to resolve it, but sadly nothing. My only option left is to wait for the CMOS battery to die and then re-boot after. Logically if everything's erased from the settings, it should start afresh. Question is, how long do I need to wait for that to happen? Will a month do or even longer? Thanks.
  6. I'm sure it's not that difficult to do it yourself. All you'd need is a compatible cable to connect the VCR to the laptop, and the right software. Free online I think.
  7. What about dentists who charge about £22 for a 5 minute check-up?
  8. It's a film I bought for about £6.00. Granted, it's not a huge amount, but I dont really want to 'lose' it.
  9. Thanks TC. And is there anything to rectify the problem? Apart from taking a hammer to it?
  10. Hi all. It plays fine in an actual DVD player, but not when inserted into the laptop. Other DVDs are ok, and they're all region 2. After the DVD's in the laptop, it makes a funny clunky, whirry sound which doesn't happen with other DVDs. I left it for a couple of minutes to see if the laptop would eventually recognise it, but nothing. I've a HP laptop running Win 7 if that's any help. Thanks.
  11. Thanks TCH. Certainly didn't know that. Much appreciated 😊
  12. Hi all. Does the entire show take part in a studio, or are some parts of it recorded outside? Listening to it at the moment, and it sounds as if they're actually out in the countryside somewhere. Or is it all pretty good sound effects? Thanks.
  13. They must stink when they actually get into the office. I doubt every workplace in the country has showers.
  14. There's more Islamophobia than anti-Semitism, but I've never heard Muslims wanting to leave the UK because of the attacks and abuse towards them. Surely the first step would be to go to the Police if you or your loved ones are being threatened? Bit of a leap to actually want to leave the country in which you were brought up in, and presumably sacrifice your livelihood there too.
  15. Why would anyone use windscreen jets when it's icy?? Surely after the outside temperature's risen, they should start working in any case? Re. an icy windscreen; I just let the engine run for about 5 mins which is how long it takes for the 'cold light' to go out, and then put the heater on full power for a couple more minutes to clear the screen (both inside and out).
  16. What a load of nonsense. Where's your evidence of this?
  17. Thanks medusa. And is it usually in April when the prices increase, or could it really be anytime of the year?
  18. Hi all. As per the thread title, do the costs increase year-on-year? Or is it every couple or so years? Thanks.
  19. Hi all. As the thread title suggests, will an NHS dentist fix or replace an old crown that's become crooked over the years? It stands out from the rest of the teeth and a gap has also formed. It's on the top tooth btw. Will they just say no because it's now a cosmetic issue, or will they replace it with a brand new one? Thanks.
  20. Hi all. I know there's some info re. exemption from jury service for religious reasons, but does it normally apply only if you're a Christian? What if a Muslim was called up and he/she said they need to pray 5 times daily as per their Faith? Which would interfere with the trial? Would the judge or court clerk see that as a valid reason for exemption? Thanks.
  21. But how do you explain the photo being blurred when it's just 1 person in the pic? That same person that they're chatting to?
  22. Well for example, they'll be chatting to a guest and then the producers will show a pic relevant to the conversation. And it will always be blurred. Have a look on one of their clips on YouTube and you'll see what I mean. 'Good Morning Britain' does it too. I just can't see the logic behind this. Why show something that we can't make heads or tails out of??
  23. Hi all. Does anyone know why they do this nonsense? Thanks.
  24. If there's no chance of a 2nd referendum, then what's the point of having all these debates and marches? Are people really this thick?
