  1. Hi There's tons going on in Sheffield, just a bit difficult to find on google. Best thing is to join the group Sheffield Salsa Club on Facebook. All the teachers/event organisers post there. I teach Salsa at Revolucion de Cuba on Mappin Street on Thursday's as part of their Salsa Social every week (8pm, £1 open class) but there are plenty of other nights as well: Bloo 88 on Wed Rev de Cuba on Thurs Cubanas Saturday afternoon Cubanas Sunday eve If you don't do facebook message again and I'll dig out more details. Thanks Rich Jackson
  2. Hi A friend of mine needs access to a piano to practice during the day for a prolonged period from the 1st to 14th July. She is an extremely gifted and dedicated classical pianist studying at university and needs somewhere to practice prior to a very important competition for her in late July. She cannot offer any money but would be happy to pay back in other ways with her time to show her gratitude. Can anyone help/offer any ideas? Thanks Rich
  3. Hi Everyone Just to say thanks for giving so many ideas. I'm following them up. Much appreciated (as indeed are any others)
  4. Hi I am trying to find a space available for hire for some dance classes. Ideally looking for 7:30-10pm on a Monday and a floor suitable for dance (ie wood/wood effect, not carpet) for around £35. Somewhere either city centre or just into S6/S7/S10. Any ideas anyone? Thanks
  5. Try http://www.sheffieldashtangayoga.co.uk/ They taught me and it's pretty physical.
  6. Hi I do Ashtanga yoga with http://www.sheffieldashtangayoga.co.uk/ There is also an Iyengar centre in Walkley I know of http://sheffieldyogacentre.co.uk/ It also looks like there is a bit of a network for that style. http://www.yogasheffield.org/ Cheers Rich
  7. Hi there Sheffield's scene is just big enough that there is something on most nights. Off the top of my head: Monday - Kizomba night at Cubanas (Trippet Lane in City Centre) Tuesday - Salsa night (no lesson) at Forum (Division Street/Devonshire Green in City Centre) Thursday - Rev de Cuba (Mappin Street in City Centre) - I'd really recommend this one. Free entry, Live Band then DJ. Get's going about 10:15 through to 1am. Friday - Salsa night at Cubanas (great bar but can be a bit cramped on a Friday) Saturday - Classes at Cubana in afternoon Sunday - Platillos Leopold Square (City Centre). Rueda Salsa classes from 6:30. Social fron about 9pm-1am. Another really good, free night. Shout if you need any more details. Rich
  8. Hi I run an adult amateur Rock n Roll dance group at Middlewood Dance School (Langsett) on a Monday. We do beginners teaching and also a group performance class. We are currently (and always) looking for new members. We are a friendly, strictly amateur group that only need to cover our costs so our basic class £2 for an hour and the group performance class after for £3. If you think you might be interested in trying something new and giving it a go let me know. We are a welcoming social bunch who have all started dancing as adults in the last few years so we've all been there starting from new and being nervous about it so nothing to be daunted by. Ideally we could do with pairs/couples. Cheers Rich
  9. Hey. Are you still looking for groups to perform. I organise a rock n roll group called rockadilies that has performance pieces we could do if you are interested?
  10. Hello there I'm looking for some players of a 5-6 aside football hour I run. For a few years I've had a regular booking of an astroturf (the nice stuff not the skin removing stuff) at The Sheffield University/Goodwin/S1o pitches on a Monday at 7. We turn up, pick 2 teams and off we go. It's frinedly stuff. whilst everyone likes to play competively, it's not super serious or anything. I've just started to run a little short of players recently so if anyone fancies a game please get in touch. I'm looking for about 6 or so more players to add to the pool. Either private message me of email rmjackson7@hotmail.com Hope to hear from you Cheers Rich

  12. Hello people I used to play trumpet to a mediocre level when a kid and teenager but life and laziness distracted me away from it through University. A year graduated and I'm looking to get back into it and get up to a level where I can really enjoy playing in a way which I truthfully never quite managed when younger due to fighting against grade exams. I'm looking to get some tuition in general, and particularly learn about Jazz from someone who knows and maybe get involved with a band (either Jazz or otherwise) but can't seem to find anything much going on in Sheffield that way. Whilst I'm on this wavelength. Does anyone know of any places that have good or indeed any Jazz on in Sheffield? Any ideas would be really appreciated. Thanks
  13. I've got a couple of rooms available for rent in my house just into Walkley on the Crookesmoor side. Ideal for access to either the University of Sheffield or the city centre. Goodwin sports within 10 minutes walk and most University facilities, (notably the teaching hospital and nursing college) within a maximum of 20 minutes walk. City centre accessible by 30 minute walk or regular number 90 bus route. Ideal for young professionals and students alike. I'm an affable, friendly 23 yr old, young professional working in the city centre and a University of Sheffield graduate and therefore very familiar with the area and can help with any settling. The house consists of 2 good sized bedrooms (1 attic, 1 first floor, both suitable for couple or single person), 1 smaller but not tiny single bedroom (currently a study), bathroom, new kitchen, newly decorated lounge, good sized garden. My hope is to rent out one of the good sized rooms and maybe the smaller room at a cheaper rate (kinda obvious really) dependent on interest. The remaining main room to be mine. Which main room is negotiable. Cable TV and 2MB broadband internet access installed. Can accomodate either extra attachments or am happy to provide access through my computer if none are owned. I'll provide the rooms furnished to good level or not at all as desired and appropriate. Rent negotiable dependent on arrangements but planning on doing all inclusive deal covering bills, council tax and broadband access for very competitive £350 per month for the larger room and £250 for the smaller room. Rental period as desired. Available from the middle/late of April I'm quite flexible on most things so please get in touch if interested or have questons. rmjackson7@hotmail.com
