  1. A 30 - 40 seat Tory majority, would be a good result for Labour and give them a good chance to rebuild into a credible opposition by 2022, assuming they can elect the right new leader.
  2. Those Labour MPs, who only nominated Corbyn in the first Labour leadership election, just to have an interesting contest are the only people who should have any regrets. The voters of this election can't have any regrets about voting for the only credible party to lead the United Kingdom into Brexit negotiations.
  3. Anything less than a 90 seat majority, will be a disappointment for Mrs May.
  4. I make it only 10 seats in England that all those leaders parties held, before the election was called. I can't see the point in Scottish and Welsh Party leaders taking part in a debate, when English voters can't vote for them.
  5. I don't think the views on this thread reflect reality. Many traditional Labour voters are going to vote Tory in this election. The Green Party will do well if they keep Brighton. The Liberal Democrats wont do much better than they did last time. The SNP are not going to hold all their seats they won in 2015. A big win for the Tories.
  6. I support the amount the Government give in foreign aid, but agree there is a problem with corruption. We all should be grateful we live in a wealthy country compared to many. Given the choice, I think most poor people in the United Kingdom wouldn't swap places with poor people living in India.
  7. It was only about year after the death penalty was abolished that they were found guilty. They committed murders before the death penalty was abolished.
  8. Exactly. A vote for UKIP is a wasted vote, while a vote for a Tory candidate is more likely to help the Tories increase their majority and guarantee the original aim of UKIP is carried out.
  9. We've not had three referendums on the same subject in six years. There was a gap of over forty years, since the subject of Europe was on a referendum ballot. It is thirteen years since fox hunting was made illegal under the rule of a different ruling political party. I doubt very much any of the two main political parties will have any plans to have referendums in their manifestos for a long time. ---------- Post added 15-05-2017 at 09:20 ---------- We might agree, that if a free vote actually takes place, then it will be a defeat for those wishing to see fox hunting made legal again. There are not enough rural constituencies, to win a vote for pro fox hunters.
  10. Many people believe the ban on fox hunting was politically motivated, rather than to protect foxes. Nicola Sturgeon has stated the reason the SNP in 2015 never supported reintroducing fox hunting, was to get revenge against David Cameron. I believe a lack of support from a parliament with a big Tory majority for reintroducing fox hunting, will put an end to this issue. It's part of an MP's duty to propose new laws, propose changes to existing laws and abolish what they believe to be bad laws. Referendums are a once in a generation event and shouldn't be compared to MPs re-voting on matters, after there has been a significant change in the numbers of MPs representing the two main parties in parliament.
  11. What do you mean by you lot? I voted to remain in the EU, but unlike you accepted the result and consider a Tory Government the best choice to negotiate Brexit, without any interference from other political parties. I sit on the fence regarding fox hunting and accept there are good arguments from both sides. I don't insult those who are in favour of fox hunting, because that is not in my nature and also I have never experienced life in a fox hunting community. There is nothing wrong in a Tory leader, seeking re-election, promising a free vote about fox hunting. The original legislation which banned fox hunting, seems to be badly thought out anyway. Your gripe seems to be that Theresa May is a clever politician and a strong leader, who isn't going to make any mistakes to prevent an increase in the Tory majority after the election.
  12. I am not arguing for any vote, but understand it makes sense to offer a free vote about reintroducing fox hunting, if you are the leader of the Tory party. The death penalty was abolished decades ago, but there have been regular free votes in Parliament about reintroducing it, even though it has never been likely to receive enough support there. You seem to lack an understanding about free votes in Parliament and lack maturity, by introducing Brexit to this discussion.
  13. Because it will put the matter to bed. If as expected the Tories have a big majority after the election and still not enough MPs want to reintroduce fox hunting, then no future Tory leader will need to keep a promise of having a future vote about fox hunting to pacify rural Tory constituencies.
  14. What point are you trying to make? The article states there will be a free vote. Most likely a majority of members of parliament will vote against the reintroduction of fox hunting and then the issue will be settled by those who make the laws.
  15. Having a free vote, is not the same as something in a manifesto. The title thread is misleading in my opinion.
  16. Sorry love, I didn't mean to upset you. I haven't said I disagree with anything, but just don't understand your cheering about a losing candidate in the French election. Chin-up, you can look forward to cheering about Paul Nuttall's plight after our own general election.
  17. The problem is the OP has a neighbour who is making too much noise which is disturbing their sleep. Another problem seems to be there are no laws, which are coming to the aid of the OP.
  18. Paul Nuttall isn't even in the contest. I don't do cheering. The year is 2017. I suggest you re-write the text in bold, because it is gibberish.
  19. How does anyone defeating Le Pen affect you, to make you cheer?
  20. What is wrong with an ex-banker being the French President, who has been a success outside of politics?
  21. An interesting article date November 2008 "When Woolworths first flung open its doors in New York in 1879, it was the Victorian equivalent of the £1 shop, selling everything from stationery to dish cloths for just five cents" https://www.theguardian.com/business/2008/nov/19/woolworths-retail-department-stores
  22. June 8th 2017. If enough people vote Liberal Democrat then they will be the ruling party and have the power to block Brexit.
  23. The high rents Woolworths were paying at the time was also a contributing factor to their demise and a reason no buyer was found by the administrators.
  24. That would have been a ludicrous decision. The country has had a chance to see how the new Conservative leader and Prime Minister has preformed during the last nine months, meaning a Conservative victory is inevitable in June. The Conservative party were in a much weaker position on 24th June 2016.
