  1. I lived in the 2nd yard on Franklin Street up from Horace's barber shop, I used to be a mate of Michael Smith, we used to play marbles (mabs) on the corner of Franklin St & Landsdowne Rd, I remember the Johnsons, your yard was over the wall from Kelly's - first yard on Franklin St. Good times 🙂
  2. already been opened by various data recovery services but they failed to get it to be recognised by the os, so I transplanted the heads from a doner drive, still no joy. the platters are just magnetic media so I thought there would be some kind of contraption that would read the raw data, if I could extract this raw data then I could rebuild the directories and files
  3. is there a way of extracting the raw data from the platters if I remove them? I used to do it with floppies and then rebuild the data, but I'm not sure if there's hardware out there that you could put a bare platter into. any help anyone!!
  4. there was a shop on the same side as Hammonds bakery further down, called Millachips, you must have been just below that
  5. Yeah, it's the same Dave Hunt, he died a few years ago, his brother Steve and I played a couple of seasons for The Crown AFC across the road from tramways, they used to go on London Road on Fridays as well as Saturdays
  6. I remember a Dave Hunt, if it's the same one he had a brother called Steve
  7. Yes he did, Dr Blake I think. He was always good to us kids, he'd give you a couple of smarties make you think you were taking some pills The surgery was indeed on Cemetery Rd just before it met Washington Rd. On either side of the steps were pure white concrete area's, we called it the 'white patch'
  8. I lived on Franklin St just up from Horace the barber, your dad was a mate of mine, his nickname was Ampy, I remember the bakery well, but sadly don't have any photos
  9. we were at 13/2 which was on the same side as Horace's barber shop on the corner, not sure how the numbers worked but you were either next door next yard or across the street, though I don't recall the name Crossland
  10. I know it's an old post, but just came across it while searching for Helen Road my dad was born and lived at number 25, he would have been there till the mid 1940's till he was conscripted into the army anyone with anymore info?
  11. I've been with my present wife for 20 years, got a daughter to a previous relationship and good and bad memories of past relationships. My cousin moved to Australia about 40 years ago and then my aunt and uncle followed him, don't know exactly where, somewhere near Perth, they love it, said they'd never come back here. try this link > https://picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;s15957&pos=1&action=zoom&id=18707
  12. yes, they were in the yard next to ours behind where you lived, Linda ran one of the West Street pubs for a while, don't remember which one, there was also Rita Kelly, she was a bit older than us. You lived somewhere here -> https://images.app.goo.gl/LiZLHJzRMaMP6ehd that's Horace's on the corner
  13. My name is Brian Walley, I don't recall Jillian Ferey but memories of names keep coming back to me, remember Ashley Richards? he was the only black kid at Sharrow Lane I think and Rainer (can't remember his first name). Graham Mulcrone lived half way up on the same side as us but I don't remember him going to the school.
  14. We went on the Norfolk Park estate after leaving Franklin St, then onto the Broomall estate, then I flew the nest and went on Lancing road just off Bramall Lane, then to Stalker Lees Road just up from Pomona Street and finally Greystones near High Storrs. Do you remember Maureen Whitham? I used to see her occasionally, she was still living at her family home on South View road last time I saw her.
