  3. Maureen is my mum The gentleman who owned the cafe before Murt was Mr Hudson. I can,t remember a lot about it as i was very young when my mum worked there. I can remember though when my dad and me used to go to pick her up after work on Saturdays , we used to take the car around the back down a little lane , and park in the rear yard to wait for her. This must be about 36 years ago now. I think there used to be a music shop next door also , not sure though. Funny that i found this thread now as i was only talking to mum a couple of days ago about when she worked there.
  4. I have seen him a few times , never seen him giving anyone any trouble. He seems to be harmless... let the man be. Besides in some way he may be having a better life than any of us ... most people seem to see him when they are on there way to work , me included. Who,s better off ..us or him.
  5. I started work at the sypte back in 1983 as an apprentice Bodymaker. This entailed all the servicing and repairs to the fleets vehicle bodywork. I can remember the bendy buses coming in to service , which i thought was around 1986. I can remember fitting the name plates of the vehicles , what people are talking about , but oddly enough can't remember any of the specific names I can also remember fitting flags to the frt roof corners , like the England flags we all have flying from our cars at times. Also , could be mistaken but i seem to remember the first vehicles being painted a different paint scheme to the clipper scheme photo seen earlier on in the thread.
  6. . Teabag , Dont know if you have enough info about BB , but my dad also worked their. I know he would be more than willing to help , he loves talking about the old days. PM me or email if you need anything
  7. My Mum worked in the Piccolo for many years. Her name is Maureen , and was there when Mr Hudson? owned the place. It later changed hands to a foreign gentleman , who's name escapes me .The Halle orchestra used to come across from the City Hall when they were in town for "real food". I was only a nipper then but apparently Freddy Starr used to frequent when he was in sheffield also, but this was before his Hamster eating days LOL:hihi:
  8. Woaa Happy days alright. This thread brings back so many memories. I was a member of the OCB also. I was OCB40 . I had various handles , Heart of oak, Cochise , can;t remember any more. I was about 15 then i think. I can remember somebody used to do like lessons in various cb things , on a table in the corner of the club, such as soldering PL259'S on coax etc. Can any one remember the YEB , yorkshire elite breakers , used to have meetings at the Fairways pub on the golf course
