  1. I think it could be Spittlehouses they used to do big functions at the Cutlers Hall to name one venue Jimmy was the boss man I know they have served royalty on visits to Sheffield, they also did functions at The Millstone in Derbyshire.
  2. Vin Moorwood used to cut hair at Norfolk Bridge and it is said, a tram could be leaving the Wicker as you entered his shop and you could have your haircut and catch that tram he was very quick, he had a waxed moustache and very smart
  3. St Columbus Youth Club Crosspool Norman Beatson ran it, and Rev Jockel came during my time there, Janet Flood, Lyn Simpson, Janet Marsden, Dog Robson, Doug Mountain, Trevor Hoskins, Syd Oxley to name several attendees at the club.
  4. I worked for Hadfields at the end of Avisford Road, Wadsley Bridge, you were paid 10 shillings for the week, 2 shillings per day, 2\6 for sunday and 2\6 to sell Green Un's outside Wadsley Bridge club on a Saturday night.

Hello, I was sorry to hear of the death of Eileen Gunstone / Batty I was a prefect at Chaucer School with her and Beryl Ransom and others, if my memory serves me right she was also a good artist as well, I lost touch for a while and was rather surprised when we met up again after she had married Pete Batty and lived on Wadsley Lane truly a very, very, nice lady my sympathies to you and your family. It was nice to read of the old surrounding Shenstone Road people, even though I cant remember what a did yesterday a good number of the names mentioned did spring to mind due to the Chaucer School conection
