  1. the dev cat has a great slelection of beers but they don't look after their pumps so can taste a bit nasty. Best pints I've found are at the Kelham Island Tavern, the Fat Cat, the New Barrack Tavern and the gardeners rest. They're not just old mans pubs either, there the favourite pubs for my crowd and we're only 25ish, they just have great beer and friendly environments
  2. What a compassionate lot you all are. I hope you never fall on hard times and have to rely on the kindness of strangers, cause judging by most of you there aren't any kind strangers left out there.
  3. Intersted in if people think there is a difference between dropping cigarette butts and roll-up ends. Personally I don't drop cigarette buts cause they don't decompose due to the filter in them, i tend to stub them out on a lampost and carry the butt to a bin. But when I'm smoking roll-ups where all that's left is a tiny square of biodegradable cardboard and a bit of rizla I do tend to drop them after stubbing them out. In the same way as I see that throwing an apple core out of the window when in countryside areas isn't a problem. Does this seem like a sensible option?
  4. Erm it wasn't me that posted it, just a harmless bystander
  5. Hello all. I know the festival isn't in Sheffield, but are there any other Sheffielders going down to the Glade festival this year? J
  6. What do you reckon would be the most and least expensive streets. If anyone could find a copy I'd pay for one.
  7. LMAO think half the squares would be "luxury student flats" or "now owned by Sheffield Hallam university" Would be quite cool to make my own version if could think of what all the squares should be.
  8. Has anyone seen a Sheffield edition of the Monopoly board game. Have seen many other regional versions but never a Sheffield version. Have we been left out of this in favour of other cities as well. Have found a liverpool edition, a manchester edition and even a Leeds university edition, but no sheffield. Any ideas?
  9. how about a group of about 10-15 30-40 year olds start hanging round there corners taking the pi*s and giving them grief on how they look till they all sod off home?
  10. Exactly. My rent is £37 a week, for a city centre property, which the Housing Benefit believe is unreasonably high by £1. Not too bad as I only have to pay £1 a week for my rent, but still very pedantic
  11. go to the kelham island brewey or contact them, we've had a couple of kegs off them in the past.
  12. Sounds like a rather similair plan to myself, although without Eastenders, I intend to still be awake by then and may go To See B
  13. Jeez. That's like trying to get a bus into town, and someone saying well there isn't one when you want it or that goes where you want to go, but at least there's a bus. The bus then becomes completely pointless for your purposes. Say you need to go int town today, but the only bus is next week and goes to edinburgh. But be thankful you have that bus, hey. It makes all the difference. I might as well walk, but oh no the authorities say that walking isn't allowed, you have to get the bus that is of absolutely no use to you.
  14. If your interested in playing an NTA event then your best off coming to one of our parties and having a chat, prefer to meet the people first, as opposed to booking someone blind
  15. I know this is a biased quote, but one that highlights the fears of some protestors. "The Justice and Interior Ministers are meeting in Sheffield to discuss these very issues - how people can be controlled and monitored, how much further civil rights can be dismantled to aid the continuing so called "War on Terror", how to keep out asylum seekers and other migrants without considering how the warmongering, perpetuation of conflicts and economic exploitation of people in other countries contributes to migration and how our own countries have grown prosperous from the contribution of migrant workers. Nowhere in this dialogue is there to be any meaningful use of the word "Justice"." As a personal view about dealing with terrorism. YOu need to deal with the causes of terrorism. Look into what it is that makes large groups want to attack governments or organisations and risk their lives to do so. We need to look at the issues that they feel are important enough to sacrifice lives for and address them. Simply fighting them head on only encourages more terrorist activity. When we see the way people are being treated by the American and English governments it is hardly surprising that more people want to fight against them. Address the issues at heart, such as the western foreign policy, the oil obsession, this USA imperialism, the supposed "democracy" and the decades of abuse the middle east has suffered at the hands of the western world. However this is all very off topic, and if discussion on terrorism is to continue, can I please ask a seperate topic is to be created so as not to detract from this one PLUR
  16. Unfortunately not all laws are just and some need to be broken for the sake of freedom
  17. If it's the same as this one http://www.gemm.com/ddc/search.pl?&a_refno=GML757929314 Then it could be worth £1,500 but that website is notorious for being expensive Also check these sales on ebay, slightly more realistic price http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=306&item=4732012811&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=306&item=4728504858&rd=1 But it may only be as valuable as this one, depends on whic pressing it is http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=45541&item=4731060119&rd=1
  18. Jesus. The maturity of some people on this forum is incredible. Its' like having an argument with a 9 year old, although I suspect they'd have more of a grasp on the poitical situation being discussed.
  19. Rare and Racy Books has some fantastic vinyl. I think the only place in town to get new twisted music along the lines of Aphex twin, while still selling old blues etc
  20. Perhaps by not letting groups like the G8 screw the world over, terrorists wouldn't feel the need to attack nations.
  21. Just like to say that it looks like you've brought your child up well to help others, be proud of the lad I would and be proud of yourself for raising a child with good morals. Although have to say that allowing the police to hit the kids is only going to make things worse, violence leads to violence, and at which point i think people would lose what little respect they have left for the police force. Probably did work well in my grandad's time (also a police officer) but the mindset of kids has changed so much, that these days they'd porobably just the policeman back and then attack his family. Sad days we live in
