  4. Have looked out to see whether it is fireworks and can't see anything,it does sound more like gunshots but surely wherever it is then the neighbours would ring police,or you would like to think they would! Its no good me calling them as I can't locate where it is,it could be across the valley towards worrall as every loud noise echoes all around
  5. Anyone hear these loud bangs ,particular last night around 4am? Been going on a few nights now, just one very large bang and then a few seconds later another one, absolutely sick of it,my dogs then start barking and won't shut up.
  6. Live in birley Carr and can see flights as they come over from Manchester quite low, bout 12000 ft.Have got flightradar24 app on iPad and can tell you what plane it is,where it took off from and where going to,also flight take off times and estimated landing times,it's great for plane watchers.
  7. Went up there last night as we often do to find it closed with a sign on the door saying something about a water leak? Decided to call in top red lion instead and was told the old Harrow had been closed, anyone know what's happened?
  8. Yes they are chihuahuas, and I suppose the buzzards will pick up rabbits which are larger,I mean when they're on the garden on their own and as we back on to fields it's more open
  9. See them birley Carr area all the time, have to be careful because I have two little dogs and understand they would take them
  10. Remember in the late sixties early seventies spending all summer holidays at the lido mill houses, when we had proper summers lasting weeks. Does anyone remember wearing rosary beads as a fashion accessory with our bikinis and hippy bells round our necks?oh how I long for those days again!
  11. On the way to work one morning through beeley woods my husband saw what he thought were a couple of dogs at the entrance ,they turned out to be muntjac deer,he was gobsmacked to say the least.
  12. Funnily enough, just had ours done today and rang round quite a few of them for prices. Found mobile tow bar services at beighton (I think )to be the cheapest. Been today all done in 3/4 hour
  13. Used to go to maltby street school in 60's. Went to Attercliffe baths for lessons from school, also my mum worked at sandersons on Newhall road(where we lived)and I used to go to the baths every Tuesday I think as she was in the sports and social club at sandersons, loved it! Also when she could afford it we went in the slipper baths for a treat, lovely steaming hot water coming out of taps, something we never had the luxury of at home and I still appreciate it nowadays. We used to go to the wet fish shop on Attercliffe shops and she used to buy crab claws and I sat in the slipper baths with a grip and a crab claw,it was like heaven, also, had the luxury of a sachet of shampoo, silvikrin or super soft I think to wash my hair with bought from the corner shop(flahertys)oh happy days! Also remember the fruit shop pierrepoints on Attercliffe shops, where the assistants stood behind a mountain of fruit and veg on an raised counter and you stood in the street to be served, the counter looked so large! Its still there to this day but boarded up and if you lived down there when you were young it's still worth a visit even though all the houses are gone,I do sometimes.
  14.
